it does matter that classes arent balanced. its probably the main reason this game is mostly dead right now. thief is so broken that its probably the only viable competitive class. Their ability prevents you from going for good cards entirely, without even having to use it. getting a 7 + cost card stolen is an instant loss. their other skill makes discard on opponent cards, which are already top tier, game ending if you get a few. It can also be used every turn for free most of the time, which is bonkers. It forces you to not buy good cards and play aggressive to have the slightest chance. But guess what? not every one wants to play as and against thief every game. Cards on the other hand dont have to be balanced, because they are available to both players and all classes

Tournament is a card that is good early on because your opponent doesn't have any Provinces, so it's guaranteed to give you +1 Card and +1 Coin, in addition to the +1 Action. Early on, this card basically acts as a Peddler (a card that gives you at least one card, action point, and coin when you play it). There's no good way to thin Coppers out of our Deck on this board, so opening with Fortune Teller and Tournament to try and afford an early Jester seems pretty good to me. We can use Jester to try and Junk our opponents Deck with a bunch of Coppers. However I've never played with Cornucopia cards before; I'm seeing all these for the first time so I may be wrong.

I'm honestly not sure what's better to go for on this board. You could try to get an early Artisan and then go for some kind of weird Festival, Library, Cellar, Throne Room, Moat engine, and prey the AI trashes the Coppers from your Deck with Bandit. There's no deck-thinning on this board except Bandit. Alternatively, you could just do what you did; Bandit/Festival Big Money.

I like how the AI is just like: "There's cards on this board that cost 5 Coin and 6 Coin? Smithy/Silver opening go brrr!" In all seriousness, that's a poor strategy to go for. Here's my personal strategical analysis of the board: - Chapel is the only form of Deck-thinning on this board, and it's EXTREMELY potent at it - Village is the only +2 Action card, - Smithy and Library are the only draw-positive cards (cards that cause the number of cards in your hand to increase when you play them. For example, if you have a 5-card hand and you play Smithy, the number of cards in your hand would go down from 5 to 4, but then you'd draw three cards, causing you to now have 7 cards in hand. Therefore, Smithy is net +2 draw). Library is much more limited, being a "draw-to-X card" (a card that lets you draw up to a certain number of cards in hand). Both of these cards are terminal (don't give you any action points back when you play them) - There's also extra deck-cycling in the form of Cellar - There's no +Buy's on this board, but there are extra card-gains in the form of Workshop, Remodel, and Artisan - There's no Coin-generation on this board except Copper, Silver, and Gold - The only Attack card on this board is Bureaucrat, but it's attack is so weak we don't need to worry about our opponent playing it against us. We'll be removing our Estates very quickly with Chapel anyway, so Bureaucrat would probably do little to nothing to us. A Library engine is only going to let us draw up to 7 cards in hand at a time, while a Smithy engine has no such restriction. Also, Smithy only costs 4-Coin, while Library costs 5, so we can't use Workshop to gain Libraries, but we can gain Smithy's with it. We can also gain Villages with the Workshop; we can put together our whole primary engine with a card that's usually pretty weak. Unlike Remodel, we don't have to draw the Workshop alongside our Estates, Estates that will probably end up being trashed by the Chapel anyway. With all this in mind, the best opener on this board is Chapel/Workshop, regardless of whether you have a 5/2 Copper start, or a 4/3 Copper start. We use the Chapel to thin down our Deck, while simultaneously using Workshop and our Coin to gain new cards. Ideally, we want to gain about 2 Villages on our second deck-cycle so we have a good chance of being able to play both Chapel and Workshop on the same turn if they're both drawn together. We increase the treasure-efficiency of our Deck by getting Silvers and eventually Golds to replace the trashed Coppers. At the same time as we're doing this, we keep gaining Smithy's and Villages so our engine is able to keep up with the Treasure cards we're gaining. At some point, we use our Workshop to gain a Cellar and then we start buying Provinces on the same turn and we aim to buy 1 Province each turn until we win. Cellar is a card that requires you to draw it alongside a decent number of bad cards in order for it to be useful; this can be done either by being able to draw a lot of cards, or by simply having a lot of bad cards in your Deck. With our Village/Smithy engine, we have a lot of card draw, but we don't have any bad cards in our Deck, because we already trashed them with Chapel (the exception now being the Chapel itself). However, once we add a Province to our Deck, we now have two cards in our Deck that we're willing to discard from our hand; Chapel and Province, so now Cellar is worth picking up and it'll help keep our Deck consistent while we keep buying Provinces. We even may gain a second one with Workshop at some point. It may also be worth it to discard Silvers with Cellar to dig for our engine cards, however this shouldn't be necessary as we probably only added about 2 Silvers to our Deck if we were playing wisely. Also, one of the Silvers we may have already trashed with Chapel; you only need one Silver and 2 Golds to afford a Province each turn.

I have played this game a lot physicaly. I general you did a lot of moves that left you vonurable and you wasted attack on the jabberlock. Manuver more to have a card advantage and only attack when you know you wont be heavily punished for it.

(There most certainly *is* luck, in the form of a deck. If you had the entire deck of cards face up, and you could charge any one you wanted during your turn, there would be hidden information but no luck, as you say)

In terms of strategy, I recommend building green and blue buildings in Winter to capitalize on production. Lean into green for production before Autumn so you barely need to use workers for resources in Autumn and focus solely on point gaining methods. You should be building purple cards for end game scoring starting in Summer ideally. Try to maximize blue powers (like shopkeeper will help you with your berry strategy) and red locations are also awesome if you can build them early and use them a few times. Events are only really helpful if the cards come up, so I typically play it by ear and don’t focus on them early in the game because the paired card may never come up. The expansions help with this challenge. Thanks for the playthroughs!
