Sir. We cannot open indicator valves of all units together to check if the Starting Air valve is leaking because few units will be at BDC or below the scavenge ports. So if air is leaking from Starting Air valve then it might escape from Scavenge ports and you will not be able to detect the leak. To test the Starting Air Valve we need to individually test the valve for each unit with the piston at TDC and distributor valve closed.

S correct , but u already know the the valve is leaking , or. Ovrhauled valve u fix in the particular unit , so keep the particular unit TDC , and give air kick

Fyi, Feed pumps are not used for maintaining the hyd tank oil level, to maintain protection pressure on LP and HP(when main power packs at idle). if protection pressure falls below 6bar(closed loop- feed pump) & 2 bar(open loop - jockey pump), alarm will be activated. Reason to maintain protection pressure is to avoid ingress of cargo into the hydraulic system.

make sure ur air bottles are drained, open starting air line drain line keep it open, during engine start stop there will be a case where complete air line would have exploded it is a tricky situation if possible stop engine if engine stoppage not possible reduce rpm and make some external arrangements to keep the air line cool like some blowers if it is safe water sprinkler can be used but be caution it should not crack the air line then we would be a sitting duck😃

Brother, i have a question. pls help me. uniflow scavenge reduces chance of intermixing fresh air and exhaust gas, which is known as "air short circuiting" my question is, what is the adverse effect of short circuiting? or what will happen if short circuiting occure?

Scavenging efficiency reduces... Exhaust gas temp increases and overall efficiency reduces... U need more scavenge air to reduce more power.... A/F ratio taken into account

brother, i have a question. why tubo charger inlet and outlet temperature need to be checked during watch? what would happen if temperature is too high/low? before we give load to auxiliary generator after starting, we are always taught that, we need to wait before generator Turbo Charger exhaust temp reaches atleast 150 degree Celciuas. then give load. why is that?
