Your videos are looking good, Pablo! Thanks for this. Two questions for you: -Even with only one drop on each side of the swab have you ever seen residual streaking or "film" left on the sensor from this procedure? If so, would you do a second pass with a new dry swab? -I have always wondered: where exactly does the dust go when the camera's autocleaning takes care of it? It feels like there should be some filter that captures the dust that needs to be cleaned out every so often, because that dust isn't just disappearing but is being moved somewhere. Thanks!
@pablodiazphotography
@pablodiazphotography 11 күн бұрын
These are great questions, Joshua! I have done both, a dry pass, and another wet pass as well. Sometimes when it’s cake on, it takes a few swabs to clean it. As far as the dust collection goes. I believe it just sits in your sensor and only knocks off what it can, but I don’t really think we’re talking about a lot of visible particles. I think you have a great idea there, though, a filter would be great!
@JoshuaMNielsen
@JoshuaMNielsen 9 күн бұрын
@pablodiazphotography Okay, so there is little chance of the solution itself leaving streaks behind it sounds like. That's good. And I never thought about microscopic dust particles invisible to the naked eye. If it was a large dust particle it's possible the self-clean might not remove it. Thanks!

Yes. It's down sides are reasonably compensable. As shown in the samples. And as you say for $USD800. Barrel distortion. In camera auto lens correction for jpegs OR auto lens correction in editing. Just nominate the lens and either will fix it. Edge distortion. See above. Only auto focus. The R series bodies have heaps of focus options which should suit most, if not all requirements. I've had lenses with an AF/MF switch and never used it. Zooming, holding the shutter and rezooming / recomposing is one way around 'wrong' auto focusing. (Back in the 1970s we didn't have auto focusing SLRs! I do NOT miss those days!) Auto focus in low light. Err . . can't have everything? I haven't noticed it, so I suspect it's a problem in VERY low light. Loss of image in lens correction editing. Always allow a bit of margin on any shot. So easy to do with a zoom. You'll need it when mismatching image format and paper formats. Standard Phot papers have never fit film / sensor ratios. Nor has phot paper been consistent it its ratios as you get a larger size. What Canon has done is produce a lens and IT combo with decent IQ at an affordable price and decent IQ. Far cheaper than a 'perfect' L series lens. Ignore the IT / auto lens correction and of course you will be disappointed, etc.

I argue that landscape photographers do not benefit much from a battery grip for the following reasons... 1. Every ounce counts when you are hiking outdoors. Adding a battery grip not only adds more weight to your kit, but takes up precious space in your bag. 2. It adds a little bit more instability while on a tripod. In this case the added mass kind of helps, but is offset by the camera being raised up higher off the tripod head by the grip which also raises your center of mass and adds more surface area for wind to affect. 3. The batteries are more exposed to the elements. Cold weather affects battery life in a big way. So most landscape photographers tend to keep their spare batteries close to their body heat, like an inside jacket pocket, having two batteries in a grip just mean twice as many batteries are draining quickly as the temperature drops. 4. Many serious landscape photographers use an acra swiss style L bracket to quick mount to their tripod heads. These L brackets are machined, heavy duty, and a rather expensive precision engineered accessory. Needing one specifically compatible for a camera with a battery grip can significantly limit your brand choices and add cost and weight. 5. Lanscape photography in many circumstances is done on a tripod. The added grip then becomes redundant as you are typically triggering the camera remotely. 6. When purchasing a tripod, there is a bit of a balancing act, it is crucial to buy one that is rated much higher than the weight of your gear for maximum stability while also trying to keep the weight of the tripod down as much as possible, and to achieve both can quickly add expense exponentially. Simply adding the weight of your grip to your camera setup may push you into needing a more robust, heavier, and expensive tier of tripod. In conclusion: A battery grip added to a lanscape photographer's kit mostly just adds a bunch of weight, expense, reduced battery life, and instability.

I really like the lens a lot! Lately, I have been considering the RF 200-800 MM, but since the 800 is a prime lens it may be sharper. All that being said, just know that the 800 MM is fixed at an aperture of F11 and if you use a teleconverter, your aperture will increase. It’s a great lens but requires adequate lighting conditions.

Hello, I have the Eos R8 and when I put it in HDR PQ, the PP profiles only let me use Normal, Landscape, Portrait, Neutral. Why won't it let me use a custom one of the 3 user memories it has? This isn't right. I want to record at 10 bits with my own profile on my camera, to give a more film-like profile as desired, and the camera won't let me.

@pablodiazphotography
@pablodiazphotography Ай бұрын
Yes it is possible, here is an example: Access the Camera Menu: Turn on your camera and access the main menu. Focus Mode Setting: Navigate to the AF (Autofocus) menu. Depending on your camera model, this might be under a tab labeled with an AF icon or found in the shooting settings. Select Focus Mode: Look for an option that allows you to select either AF, MF, or AF+MF. Choosing MF will disable autofocus and enable manual focusing. Some Canon cameras also offer AF+MF mode, allowing you to manually fine-tune focus after autofocusing. Use the Lens Focus Ring: Once you have set the camera to MF or AF+MF mode, you can manually adjust focus using the focus ring on your lens. Assigning a Button (Optional): If your camera has customizable buttons, you can assign one of them to toggle between AF and MF for quicker switching. This option is usually found in the custom functions (C.Fn) menu under the controls customization.

@@pablodiazphotography Thanks for your reply! Note that the shutter shock will affect even tripod shots because it induces vibration of the "floating" sensor equipped with the image stabilisation system (even if IS is off on tripod). Cameras with fixed sensors, such as R or RP, are not concerned. This shutter shock occurs only at specific shutter speeds and in case of R6 it is at about 1/125 sec. - right where your test shots were taken. If you want to avoid the effect, you need to switch the camera to Electronic or Electronic First Curstain shutter modes which eliminate the shutter slap.

Hi. I followed your video exactly with my R5. It took a 30 second exposure but only every 30 seconds. Not every 3 seconds. Am I doing something wrong?
@pablodiazphotography
@pablodiazphotography 5 ай бұрын
So what you wanna do is set your shutter speed to whatever you want. It could be 10 seconds. It could be a 22nd shutter. It can be a 32nd shutter or more. Once you figure out what your shutter speed needs to be to set the interval timer add the shutter speed plus roughly 3 to 5 seconds. So an example of that would be if my shutter speed is 20 seconds, I would set my interval to 25, if my shutter speed was 25 seconds then I would set it to 30. What I’m doing to set the interval is adding five seconds to the shutter speed to get my interval time. Again, I want to make certain that you can use five seconds or four seconds or three seconds, you may have to experiment a rule of thumb for longer shutter speed such as 30 seconds I would set my interval timer to five seconds over the set shutter Speed. I repeated myself a few times here just to provide you two examples. Hope it helps.
