Love your enthusiasm. Story driven games are so much more enjoyable and memorable in my opinion. Thanks for pointing out how much content/replayability this game has - impressive!

Help me feel less stupid, how in the world are you supposed to solve the red cards in less than a minute? There doesn't seem to be a pattern to how the numbers correspond to letters, so it feels like guessing and you can't get very far with that for the longer phrases.

I think you're confusing simple mechanics with "made for kids". It's a family game if you ask most people.

D&D and Pathfinder are the same game basicly. 2nd one a little more detailed and crunchy rules, but same crappy system. Genesys apears quite n1 to me (read but then couldnt playtest last time). Has good mechanics. Narrative mechanic is cool, but the custom dice suck (couldnt even get any last time).And there are other good narative systems out there. Well...but you could use the starwars dice if you have them. Anyway, in the past they didnt apply their rule modules to the IPs they offer. You had to puzzle it for your self, partly and partly, some mechanics were missing at all and were published as pdf later..-.. what made corerule hardcopys suck (Print&Taoe ?!?) Tape or no Tape, 2 FAT Books suck, because GM allwas needs enough space. If star wars gets ongoing support, ill join in .too I guess. And im sure a lot of (old XYD) people will play Twighlight Imperium in it now,. So maybe the system will learn to fly now.

You definitely should try out the Genesys system, the open "Blueprint" book is good for using the system in any setting, I do love their Magic system. Hit me up if you want to join in one of our one shots or mini campaigns.

The veto cards… the rules are very unclear. I get that you can “nope” anyones action at anytime including if it’s not your turn. I also get that you can veto a veto. But- who goes next and do all players replenish their hands after a veto? If everyone replenishes their hands, in what order?

Yeah. I remember when I first got Terraforming Mars (many years ago) and, for a long time, I really struggled with teaching the game in an efficient manner. I can see the "Terraforming Mars" aspects within the gameplay; however, the downside - or upside, depending on your viewpoint - is that Ark Nova has a lot more going on compared to TM. Great heavy-Euro game!

I try to be a level 1 gamer, but I often end up being a level 2 gamer. It ends up changing between the two levels throughout the year depending on other life events. I feel like my current schedule puts me at level 2 right now. Work has been been keeping me a little busier at the moment as we are down a few employees. I also find that summers tend to make gaming a little more difficult to schedule. The evenings and weekends tend to fill up with kids' sports and other outdoor activities.

@bradkurle4862

@@AsPerMyAbility It probably really depends on how many commitments a person has in their schedule. I'd say one game night per week is the ideal spot in my situation.
@AsPerMyAbility

@@bradkurle4862 It probably is for a lot of people. I can imagine a lot of people who attend a meetup on the weekends. These types of gamers are gaming one time a week for (let's assume) an entire year. That would put them at 52 game sessions a year, which does sound like a pretty formidable number when you look at the bigger picture.

this video might be a bit misleading for new/prospective players. our family has found this game to be lots of fun at any player count from 1 to 4 just as the rules indicate; especially since the latest release of the base game contains enough materials for up to four people to play! also, the chaos bag works just fine and it was designed to allow players to increase or decrease the difficulty level of each scenario to suit their specific needs. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in this game to seek out some more in-depth and informative videos. there are lots of them out there.
@AsPerMyAbility
@AsPerMyAbility 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not all that misleading according to the title. The video is how I play AH solo - how I like to set up the game and my opinions on how I enjoy playing solo. The video is simply my opinion on a lot of things. By all means, check out other videos and watch other objective and purely informative videos if you’re interested in playing the game; that’s just not what this quick little video is meant to do.

I highly recommend it for families. The puzzles are fresh and keep you guessing, and yet, not too complicated. Also - and I should have pointed this out in my video - each puzzle is physical in some manner (cutting something, folding, assembling parts in the right manner) which may appeal to kids as the game is very “hands on.”

8 year olds dude...Tales from the Loop seems to be the closest to Kids on Bikes, but is much more rigid, in that the world is created and spelled out for you. Kids on Bikes, you literally create the world as a group, totally open ended. I have downloaded the rules but haven't played yet. Really hard for a GM because you lose a lot of control over the world to the players.
