Donald built the heart of my childhood. I grew up with a passion for wildlife and history here in Bend Oregon. My first inspiration was the High desert museum as a child on my first field trip. I work with adults with developmental disabilities now and love what i do and thanks to him, his friends and his predecessors i can share his passion and my own with each of my clients. They give free passes to Adult foster homes and every time i visit with each individual i can share and experience the wonder of our history and bring a spark to each individual. I could never thank Donald and all who contributed enough for inspiring me and so many others and bringing wonder and inspiration to those who need it. Thank you for everything. ❤️

The book is not about the Oregon High Desert Trail. That trail is simply used as an excuse to tie together chapters about various aspects of life in eastern Oregon. Learn about range management issues, global warming etc. The book is very philosophical about everyone getting along and resolving issues in a coopertive way.

I read 50, but they're probably going extinct either way Edit: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says 18-39 Sierra Nevada Red Foxes still exist in the wild

I saw him all grown up last week! Thanks for rescuing these otters. Read that you guys have a baby one in the back. Can’t wait to see when the little guy is in the main enclosure.

I just saw what I am almost positive was a badger about 7-8 feet away from me as I was walking at night on a bright full moon lit night. I was out in the desert in my 4x4 truck. I decided to take a walk just near my truck. As I was walking about 25 yards from my truck, my eyes caught this grayish long corse hair animal waddling heading from my left to my right. It was very wide and low to the ground. In that split second and a half, I immediately turned around and ran away heading back to my truck. I was quite surprised by this encounter, that I came up upon a wild animal. It definitely wasn't a skunk, no mistaking the smell and stripped black and white markings of a skunk. I thought to myself, what else could it be, but a badger. In that second and a half, it didn't seem to even notice me or get defensive. It just kept waddling about its way. The ground was dark but the full moon gave enough light to see its size and shape and grayish color. I didn't notice its head, just the body. I was too surprised and startled to spend any time examining it. Wow!

I’m researching what Dens we found on our acreage in a rural area in southern AZ. Unfortunately we saw one deceased on road not too far from our home. We will leave him alone as long as he leaves our chickens alone.I love badgers, they are bad ass.

Underrated comment!! My Maine Coon will jump on the bed deliberately on my stomach or chest and then stare right at my face and literally, so gently, boop me on my snoot in slow motion. At sunrise. Every day. Every. Darn. Day.

Hi Benoit! Thank you for your comment. The otter in the video is actually an 11-week-old pup just learning to swim. He wasn't very agile then but if you come see him at the Museum now, he's quite the accomplished swimmer. Hope to see you at the Museum soon!
