Rabbi regretfully I think you're making a mistake the direct translation in Hebrew is not futile it is vapor or smoke meaning that when you're in it you can't see it or see what it's really about and even though it's material if you try to touch it you cannot. So your whole interpretation of that book is misguided by looking at it as the word futile instead of smoking vapor it flips the whole interpretation on its head.
