Even though the loot isn't that great, I do love trail ruins. It's interesting to view Minecraft through this sky block lens and how helpful some structures could actually be. I like the brick factory lore you're adding in!

Yes, I never bothered with trail ruins before, but for early Skyblock, the loot and gravel are awesome! :)

What great luck getting a music disc on your first suspicious gravel! That's awesome. Also, I know it's so difficult to get dirt/grass right now, but when you get the ability to produce rooted dirt via azalea on moss, you'll get infinite amounts! Of course, you'll need to produce an actual stone and moss farm to retrieve lots of it, but the opportunity is there! :D

The moss is a huge win! Endless amounts of dirt will help tremendously. Also, yes with the mobs not having many places to spawn you'll be able to create a great slime farm someday... of course when you actually want to and not just accidentally like today haha. Great thumbnail by the way Gren! :D

There's a cluster of 3 notes played on your ambient music, starting at 5:46, that sent me on a nostalgic, wild goose chase for hours. I couldn't remember what song those notes were reminding me of. I was literally moments away from checking myself into the mental health ward when I realized it was "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" by Bryan Adams. Crisis averted.

OMG I love (and hate) when that happens! I hear what you mean now that you pointed it out. It’s not just the notes, it’s the style of playing too! I had an oven timer that would chime and those three notes would put an Eagles song in my head the rest of the day! 😂

Fun little island Gren - the watertower sure is huge haha. I like the idea that you're keeping the separate island theme going rather than simply making the main island massive... it helps the skyblock feel stay authentic :D

I love the stone around the outside of the islands, and the fountain floating island chain is so cute! I use my first iron for a stonecutter, so no worries about the shears lol. That's also super useful

This was a delightfully unique start to skyblock; most people will rush to a hostile mob farm to get string to make a bed (and iron of course). But you've gone about it completely differently, and I really enjoyed your painting of the vision for the floating island you built. Looking forward to watching this progress.

This is the first video I’ve watched of yours and I just have to say it was so relaxing. I’m a super new player, literally 1 week in, my 6yo begged me to start playing with her and I’m absolutely hooked. I could play this game all day. We are out growing our tiny starter house and when talking with her about building a new house she asked for another all pink house but I said it may be too hard to get all the pink wood because even though I replant every tree I cut down it still takes time to grow back and the amount I would need for as big of a house as I’m wanting to build… I would need a forest, so she said “we could have a rainbow house” and my eyes just popped out of my head because I never even considered it and now I want one… Anyway I searched Minecraft dye and your boxes looked so pleasing so I clicked and wow is that all so intimidating but you made it so relaxing and fun to watch. I know almost nothing about red stone and have no clue how to go about starting anything like that. So I’m totally out of my league but thanks for all the info on what and how to possibly farm everything.

I'm so excited for you and your daughter! Minecraft is such a fun game! Don't worry about redstone, that's just to make a lot of stuff faster. You can use bone meal from skeletons and click it on grass to get all kinds of flowers for dyes. And if you want real easy access to all the blocks, you can always go into creative mode.

Gren, I'm not exactly sure what made me watch this video tonight, but I'm glad I did! This was spectacular. First of all, it's amazing to see your growth with your watercolor skills over a year. And I really appeciated your optimism and outward looking ideals you presented in this video as well. Sure, none of us are necessarily producing the "perfect" video, but I think that's okay. It's very obvious that you enjoy what you're doing and that you're always looking for ways to improve. That's such a great quality for one to have! Excellent work :D
