Based on a train rythm. She starts out of the station then picks up speed. Tamlin is a piece of cotton waste used by a train driver to grip the steam regulator on the beautiful old steam engines. As a steam man what a joy to listento this piece🚂🚂🚂❤

That's my favorite tune with my favorite instrument! Is there a better recording of it because this one is not that great?

What instrument are they using to play the melody in this version? A mandolin?

That would be a Hammered Dulcimer, one of my favorite instruments!

I was blessed and lucky enough to watch this performed live during the last Virginia Renaissance Faire, back in 1999; Misti is a very skilled artist, able to play the penny whistle, the hammered dulcimer, and sing beautifully! If you ever get a chance, watch her live!

Avis Daniels Totally agree! I saw them live either late 90s or early 2000s (can't remember exactly when). They were great!

Please compare this song to "Tam Lin - Rising Gael". Which is even better?

This is a reel . . there aren't any lyrics to this tune. There is another Tam Lin that's a Scottish ballad - perhaps that's what you were looking for.

Recorded live @ Colorado Renaissance Festival, during the opening gate, back a few years. Glad the tune is still out and making the rounds.
