It held ok. However I am really disappointed at the long term quality of their items. I need to make a follow up. I won’t buy anything from them again.

That's very interesting- do u mind sharing what the issues were. I was considering their cashmere jumpers and chinos but am holding off as they aren't inexpensive and if the quality is questionable I won't bother. Many thanks

I love this style of shoe for every day wear. I've got a pair of Viberg in Earth Chamois which are superb, feel great, suit my style. These look great, though the look of Bison, it just doesn't move the needle for me. I'd probably prefer these in Scotch grain more. No doubt, great shoes.

This does not work if there is an even number of holes. In that case the two ends of the lace end up on the same side.

It’s more rare these days to come up with even eyelets. 2 eyelets are only on derbies, 4 eyelets are super rare (only Norman Vilalta does it) and 6 eyelets are the ones you would most likely encounter this. In a case like this, you’d have to adjust yes.

I appreciate this very honest and down-to-earth review. While these shoes are, in a sense, close to perfection, you are right in saying that nothing truly ever is, especially if it’s handmade. People are not machines and can never be fully consistent. Very soon, I am going to be buying my own pair of Stefano Bemer’s, and I couldn’t be more excited! I have seen a lot of the British and Japanese brands, and to me, they do not have the same charm or visual appeal as the Italian workshops, but that is my opinion, of course. And at that level, the difference in quality is virtually minute and unnoticeable. Thank you so much for your honesty, as in a scene increasingly capitalized on insincerity, honesty becomes the defining hallmark of one’s character.

I suffer from the same issue, I’d say they are wide enough. I would not size down in your case though, I’d take your regular comfortable dress shoe size.

I recommend you to check out the Styleforum thread about archibald. While the quality seems good, the delivery is ridiculous with people waiting over a year and still getting the wrong shoes. Unfortunately I don’t have any interest in reviewing them. I’d prefer to do crown Northampton.

@@MisiuAcademy Stefanos MTO vs Gaziano MTO. I am commissioning a victorian button boot from Stefano , so a level below the six pence bespoke. Also it's my first pair from them. As a second pair I want a python loafer and as part of discussion was asked to consider Gaziano MTO instead of Stefano. hence the question. I have ready to wear shoes from Gaziano which are excellent but for some reason the tradionalle collection from Stefano stands out in its overall design. Hence wanted to get your expert view :)

Stefano MTO better in my opinion. Have you tried Scafora? I could make you a python pair with them or Enzo bonafe. Or loafers in teju lizard. Snake is not the best for shoes.

You say that you are not getting a boot that is significantly better than a £300 boot. I love the conniston but they are now almost £600. Can you recommend something similar in style that matches (or nearly matches) their quality in the £300 range?

I actually made the model 8866 in grain leather in my shop with Carlos santos to mirror the Coniston. Loake might have some similar style. Possibly Bridlen which also mirrors the British. Trickers on sale?

My position is a bit more nuanced. He’s a salesman; and comes across as a somewhat earnest popinjay. But the benefit he presents is substantial: he introduces you to some of the best craftsmanship out there, thereby enabling consumers to learn more about shoes, socks, suits and the like before they purchase them. I bought two G and Gs thanks to him. I similarly purchased an EG thanks to him. I’m probably going to be visiting the Stefano Bemer shop in NYC, too. But I learned of the shoe snob and now the noble shoe because of all this-and have become far more discerning as a result. My wardrobe has been very enriched by all this; and I’m grateful for that.
