Once they began playing along with a track, Eric stopped reminding her to tongue the first note of her breath. Eric is nicer than I am. I would have stopped her every time.

I was so happy to see the lesson begin with raising the neck strap up, because many promotional photos of Eric show him playing with his head looking down to his shoes. I see the photos and think he can't play at that angle!

Something not mentioned is how good she sounds.

I think you have the wrong mouthpiece here. Try a Yanagisawa metal, maybe 6 or 7 which will give you more edge, yet retain the mellow style you have. And remember what Uncle Eric said about posture? I think you are still bending over to play, which will of course affect tone. Also, try to involve the upper register more. Otherwise - crack on!

Dad stop talking and asking questions about Eric! A lesson time is precious …. let her have his whole attention! My husband did this when I went for a bike fit, just talked through the whole thing about bike riding!

It’s interesting to see a pro player with a personality so much different from Michael Brecker, who is the only sax guy I knew. Michael seemed so quiet and introverted….. whereas Eric seems to be more outgoing, and willing to share his insights.

Jupiter is an under brand... Still she extracts a great sound out of it. This shows that 1. the player makes the sound, not the instrument, 2. if she keeps on working like this, she'll become the next Karolina Strassmeyer :)
