BMW said specifically to pin the throttle to enable the launch control safety, which stops you from looping until a set gear or set speed?
@FanaticArtz
@FanaticArtz 5 ай бұрын
A bit late here but that is not how to use the launch control. Throttle needs to be pinned at 100% from the get go, if you even drop it to 99% Launch Control deactivates. This explains the massive drop in revs you get in 1st gear. It should be holding 9k until the engine catches up and continues from there. for anyone trying it for the first time be careful not to hold the throttle at 9k then go max after you start to move this can cuase launch control to immediatly turn off and the front end will go stait in the air if not ready for it.

I own this bike since two years and I love the positivity you utter in the video. It's a regular GS and not a GSA. The GSA is a lot broader between your knees! However, it's certainly not faster than the R1250GS. On road the big GS is much faster, it has longer gears so you shift less, but it's faster with 40 more hps.

Fantastic video. I have a question though. Does your settings matter on your race pro modes? Example wheelie control and traction control is at minimum or off and your turn on launch control. Will your motorcycle wheelie? or launch control will overide everything to ensure the motorcycle stays on the ground?
@MarzonTwo
@MarzonTwo Жыл бұрын
Whatever race pro mode you're currently in, the bike will respect those riding settings. Now, from what I know it is possible to flip the bike while in launch mode, however the bike is programed to help the rider out and prevent from wheel lift. Crazy huh!

it's interesting because its so subjective, like the gearing on 848, which I have and ride, is quite high, it feels like it's having power and pushes you and even kicks you in idle 1st, but the throttle I find very manageable and progressive, easy to keep it steady in any situation, even in 1st gear compared to a bike that has the street gearing, like for example a hornet 600 from 2013, that is completely unusable in first and even second, those two gears are just for putting into motion because they make the throttle respond like an on/off switch which is very annoying ,other thing, the clutch surely its wrong on this one you tested, but you can adjust it to grab at the middle not at the bottom. It feels like the 848 with this gearing is running fine only above 4000 rpm minimum and even then if you open the gas too much it will rumble and shake with not so good acceleration(logging), it needs like 6000 for immediate response and good acceleration (maybe this one you tested has the pinion smaller or the sprocket larger and that makes a huge difference in gear ratio) and one more thing, I will mention that I never rode a BMW s1000, but from all the previous bikes I rode (all naked bikes) this one feels like I am really inside it and not on top of it..... it's crazy how subjective can a review be when you have different background and perspective, a lower hp bike with street gearing pulls harder in low range than the 848 and revs faster too, I felt that , but if you come from sport bikes only with in line 4 and also high gears, surely it feels like the Duc has more grunt low to mid range.

@@MarzonTwo I have the classic 848, not the evo, and I forgot to mention something, surely the brakes on the bike you tested were having air bubbles or something wrong because I feel like the front brakes on mine are amazing and the 848 evo its said to have even better ones. I can even say they saved me once, from 130km/h to 30 in about a second without locking, fast but progressive too thanks to high number of pistons, then at 30km/h I was able to perform a save evasive maneuver . By comparison, if I was on my old xj600 with that single disk and vague brake, I wouldn't be writing here now, but then again, I never tested newer bikes with ABS, or Brembo mono blocks that everyone praises so my perspective is limited by my experience.
