It's shameful how this Harper government has treated our Veterans, fighting them in court to deny them benefits, Harper saying the Government doesn't owe them anything..despicable...

My God, what carelessness! My heart goes out to those who were there and are suffering today because of the lack of compassion from the government. And you know, through 20+ years of schooling and learning about Canadian studies and Canadian history, today was the first time I had ever heard of this incident. Ignorance on so many parts, it's unbelievable.

What angers me the most about this is the way the Canadian Forces deal with unpleasant events. If the Canadian Forces had owned up to this and treated this like the horrific accident that it was, things would have turned out a lot different. But as it is, the Canadian Forces thought it would be best to bully a bunch of children into silence. And sadly, this is nothing new for the Canadian Forces. There were about 25 children from Canadian Forces Base Namao being molested by the base chaplain. The Canadian Forces sprung into action and swept all of the children under the rug except for the one kid required for a conviction of Captain McRae. None of those children received and counselling or therapy. Something has to be done in order to make sure that the Canadian Forces will be held to account for screw ups like this.

The National War Museum has "Lest we forget" in Morse code on the tower but the government of Canada has forgotten us for 40 years!
