I'm am going to be doing literally the same project on a house I just bought. Need to level the house then redo the roof. Thanks for sharing your endeavors on this. I hadn't considered adding a new cross beam but I'll certainly will look at that option. Nice work!

How is it even possible to straight lumber today!!! I tried to do this at my farm and new wood was so crooked that it was worse to deal with than the sloped floor.

The bones of my home look so similar to yours. I’m in central NC. Home was allegedly built in 1901 but that’s what tax records show for nearly all the older homes in my town. Where are you located? Good job installing the beam.

You may run into an issue with the space under the door to the floor. When you add the sub-flooring and flooring, you may have to cut a lot more off of the bottom of the door.

Ya, we factored that in. That entire portion of the floor was sagging so we know we need to tackle that.

bad idea to put pea gravel under concrete with such a thin pad, better off just pouring al concrete. Pea gravel can shift, especially when not compacted

your non-treated shims will eventually rot and it will sink. Get some galvanized metal shims, or just get adjustable posts instead of cinder block stacks with shims.

Joist straps from the old to your new one. They cost cents and will stop the new joist walking around over the next few decades from the dozens of things that cause a house to vibrate.

I hope you add a moisture barrier on the dirt before you add new floor . Like plastic sheet or something to protect from moist from the ground .

The "rusted" 5:28 is usually iron build-up. At least in our area we have a ton of iron issues.

looks like a shallow well with not much static water level or they have the pump set real shallow, either way it's guaranteed to be over pumping it. but probably a shallow well and pumping it dry/low, going by the casing and age, time for a new well!(ouch$$$). also chicken excrement and debris from the yard is not what you want in there, hopefully you shock chlorinated, washed it down and cleansed it. lol
