Aiming to your configuration efficiency, we have reached this summer 11,3 sec 100-200 acceleration with 1430-1450mg/c and 1,25 bar boost in midrange. 😊 Saab 9-5, T5 internals, 19t #7, oem exhaust manifold, 3 inch exhaust, aftermarket intercooler, 550cc long bosch injectors, 98RON. Top-end 1300mg/c ignition angle was ~27° without knocking.
@ArturssonEngineeringАй бұрын
That's a decent time! However that's an absolute insane amount of ignition timing, must be very low compression for that to work at normal AFRs/Lambda values on regular 98ron especially with the high sulfur content like in most eastern countries 🤔 How much were those pistons machined down? I have like 16° less timing than that on regular 98ron at ~1345mg/c top end😅

@@agressor9593 This definitely explains the ignition timing as the 92-94 long block pistons lower the compression by quite a bit then adding to that running fairly rich. The b2x5 cylinder heads do have a few CC larger combustion chambers aswell 😄
@ArturssonEngineeringАй бұрын
@@ЕгорПервов-и5я It does a lot of good balancing that out at a lower ignition timing with leaner mixture! Excessive amounts of fuel is the number 1 enemy of the engine. It actually boosts the knock scenario in the end as residual fuel gets trapped. All about finding that balance.

Is is worth it to go for the FM57? Are the gears noticeably longer?
@ArturssonEngineeringАй бұрын
It mostly comes down to personal preference, but I think this FM57 gearing suits wider range of usage and had a very positive effect on fuel consumption! Especially with a car that has higher torque it is more usable as you can stay within the torque curve for longer. Previously on FM55B10 4.05 i had to shift at 160kmh in 3rd gear on the speedometer, now with the FM57B11 3.82 I can shift within 170-175kmh instead

Hello Joel, how early would a G25-550 (0.49 or 0.73) spool on a B205R engine with forged internals on 100ron fuel? and whats a pretty safe RPM limit you can run the engine at before seeing valve float?
@ArturssonEngineering2 ай бұрын
I have experience of tuning G25-660 0.72/0.73 having full go at 3400rpm on petrol so the G25-550 will be even faster spooling. The compressor wheel is kind of weak and has low efficiency in really high rpm. So one has to help them to stay efficient and not have so much restrictions that pushes against it. So take the 0.73 housing, because if tuned properly it will still come alive low 3000rpm🤌 Valve float starts happen at 3.2+bar exhaust manifold pressure on original valve springs at 6000rpm and chokes badly making terrible power while wanting to knock. But 6600-6800rpm is definitely safe in most cases max 1.4-1.5bar boost, not with higher boost levels than that😅

@ArturssonEngineering2 ай бұрын
E85 can be very very tough on engines. Especially when tuned rich and inefficient, not sufficient ignition timing which everyone does and just cranks up the boost pressure for no good. Engine worn out in no time.

What an amazing beast!!
@J1I9M7M4Y2 ай бұрын
Wow, that is a bit surprising. The only difference that i think i can see, is that the rpm goes up a tiny bit quicker on e85..
@ArturssonEngineering2 ай бұрын
Exactly that, the petrol has higher initial cylinder fillage due to a lot less disturbance of the intake port flow. E85 has more mass taking space and tries to be atomised disturbing the airflow. So petrol spools slightly faster and most often has even slightly higher torque output or similar to the E85 depends on a lot of factors. Energy density and more intial flow. The low end is really nice and more responsive on petrol while also having a much more stable power curve up top which only drops like 5-8bhp when running past the cams efficient range. E85 is only good on the top end up until it starts choking slightly and then immediately looses 30-60hp as the flow starts to struggle because of exhaust mass. This is why im more and more oriented to running petrol nowadays, I dont see the purpose of E85 personally

Hello, how does the F40 deal with 700+Nm torque? It's rated 400...
@ArturssonEngineering2 ай бұрын
The 400nm is only the transmission case rating in terms of earliest stage it may start to flex and nothing else. It is a underrated torque number to keep them safe in all conditions. The gear sets have tremendous strength and the tripod design of having 3 axles stabilising the whole thing makes it even more capable of withstanding flex. Always being stable and no misalignment with the gear teeth as things starts to flex. It is like the F35 transmission casing is rated to even lower numbers, but the gear set alone is rated to max 700nm. But its down fall is the two axle design which doesnt help the casing withstand torsional flex. The gear set of the F40 even higher, saab engine lab used to run 700-750nm through these F40s in various projects. My sources are former Saab/GM drivetrain/engine lab employees. Also in relation to what I have noticed myself how strong they are with the correct treatment of proper tuning and sensible driving.

How is the spray pattern with the Bosch 870's? How do they compare to the SMP 846's?
@ArturssonEngineering8 ай бұрын
The SMP 846cc have better allrounds function in all RPMs and different fuels, these Bosch ev14 870cc I strongly dislike in low load on petrol/gasoline for example. On E85 with longer opening time they work better. The spray pattern is a bit too wide and too fine so the high pressure spray mist actually wants to clinch to the port walls in low rpm and even partially on low midrange. So there is a jump in 50-60nm for me in 3700-4500rpm. But great efficiency rpms above that! The SMP 846cc has basically extremely minimal wall wetting with fuel so they work everywhere and make the car responsive and fuel efficient everywhere. I would say in most scenarios the Smp 846cc are still top dog 😅
soo when can i ship you my spare ecu for this? such cool work on a stock ecu
@killiandempsey21208 ай бұрын
are you running really wide tires? cause wouldn’t 400+hp with that weight be spinning at those speeds?
@ArturssonEngineering7 ай бұрын
Only 205/55r16 tires and open differential. About 600nm and still no wheel spin. Good tires and wheel angles is what matters, narrower tire width increases contact pressure for acceleration aswell. But there is this balancing act ofc. Like I have managed to get 700hp to hook with full traction on 235 width, it is not that hard even on a fwd, all about balancing the car
