I had a similar experience with panic/anger. One day at work while having a panic attack a co-worker said something that made me angry. I immediately noticed the bodily sensations remained the same, but my perspective switched from fear to anger. A lightbulb moment for me.

Hello, Corey! I would like to share my personal experience with you. I started taking antidepressants when I was 16 because I was diagnosed with anorexia. Three years later, I fully recovered, and I was told by my psychiatrist that I could stop taking them. I was feeling over the moon, happy that this was already in my past. But 5-6 months later, I started experiencing panick attacks for the first time in my life. I think that this was caused because I stopped taking them. Then, I started the treatment again. 2 years later, I stopped them again, and this was the hell. 5 months later, I was in a constant state of anxiety, crying, losing control over myself, and...Started them again. I am taking a higher dosage, but I still don't feel much safe. I am doing better, but I still don't feel completely in control. I am afraid of traveling because I think that I will experience panic or anxiety. I am also having a hard time being alone at night for the same reason. Will it always be like that?
@coreybennettboardman4 ай бұрын
Hi Katerina - Thank you for sharing your personal experience. 🙌 This may be disappointing…I’m not a trained professional so it is tricky for me to respond to this message. But as a human friend, I will say this: You are clearly very strong and courageous, and have made it through big challenges already. And whether or not you really believe that, your strength exists at the same time as your anxiety and not feeling in control and anything else bad you believe about yourself. The good parts are there too. You are resilient and trying to work through your pain. And that’s awesome. Keep going because… it will not always be like this. Nothing is permanent. I started anxiety meds around the same age (Zoloft) and had a very difficult time getting off of them in my mid 20s. But I did it, because it was the right decision for me after a lot of work in talk therapy. Are you in talk therapy? Are you reading books on the subject? Podcasts? Other KZbin channels? Do you have a support system that you trust? All of these are incredible for healing. It’s terrible to feel out of control and unsafe or be afraid to travel or be alone. It’s very hard. But again, it’s not permanent. I know you are working through this because you watched this, and messaged me. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke: "Let everything happen to you, Beauty and terror Just keep going No feeling is final." Let me know if you want any other resources. 💛
