Ubiquiti devices are designed to be integrated into their own network systems. The whole UI is needed to properly configure and setup the features and everything is designed to work together from doorbells, wireless access points, security cameras, telephone systems, car chargers, etc... I left my standard home network behind and started again with Ubiquiti equipment and I've never looked back. They have some nice features and have no subscriptions, apart from the phone network. You can even open your phone and point it at your network switch and a label will appear above each port displaying what device is plugged into that port. The prices are a bit higher than other hardware but they are designed to work together which is why it makes it so appealing to me.

Hello, The NVR itself is powered via 12V DC using its dedicated power adapter, so it does not require PoE. The Cat5 cable is used to connect the NVR to the same network as the cameras for communication and video management. As for the Ajax cameras, they are powered using standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af), so you don't necessarily need a PoE+ switch. A standard PoE switch will work just fine. Thank you for watching

@@user-ic6xf I have 3 dome cameras and two bullet cameras. As stated by the gentleman in the video, dome cameras do require a little more maintenance than the bullet cameras. I've had my system up for two years and just cleaned the insides of the domes because of the the IR glare during night operation. I have not had this issue with the bullets. My bullets look down the side yards of my house and they can have "self-blinding" issues at night due to the reflection of the IR lights along the house's walls.

Hello, Both drives are good for surveillance, but the Seagate one is better for scalability, while the Toshiba works well for modest setups. Your current drive should perform fine unless you need higher capacity or support for more cameras. Thank you for watching
