Alex, this is a great career switch. The nature of the CFA Charter, particularly the breadth and depth of what you were exposed to during your CFA Program journey, definitely has all it takes for you to effectively use your analytical and leaderships for the benefit of the US army and USA.

CFA is the “Gold Standard”. The CFP on the other hand is a mile wide and inch deep.

I’m in the same boat right now. I went to OCS and am weighing staying in post CCC or refrading and going for an MBA.

as a platoon leader, I was assigned a firing point in Germany by Range control for my 4.2" mortar platoon to occupy. Upon arriving at the position and starting to set up, I observe a Battalion size bivouac area about 500 meters to the front of my line of fire. I call Range Control and tell that such and such unit is in bivouac to my front and am I still supposed to fire over them. About that time the CO of that unit came on the radio just screaming for them to move me. They finally did. I would not have actually fired because my battalion had not sent an officer to safety for me as 2 officers were required on a mortar firing point and I was there by myself.

Ive always run on the "assumption" that Miller was in an unique situation were they had a unit that was supposed to have already cleared the minefeild, and had to get out and figure things out manually. Which of corse, video game being a game, lot of inconsistancies.

I was thinking of learning the CFA just to be able to know how to invest money better. not really to work as a financial analyst in a bank... what's your thoughts on that?

Did you decide to enlist or officer route? Even though you made less money was that a factor in your choice to go enlist or officer? I ask because I have a friend who did enlist. I am joining pretty soon and studying for asvab. I am in finance accounting in Chattanooga.

I was wondering like how much Math is needed? If you suck at algebra, stats and calculus but are decent at accounting would this be the program 4 u?

Graduated from Army OCS in class 27-69. Back then OCS was 6 months. The test everyone feared back then was Tactics not land nav although we had a few guys fail land nav. They had one chance to retest and were recycled if they failed a second time.
