The first one I got would never cook but would always switch to warm after about 5 minutes. No steam would ever come out of it. I returned it, got another one and this one DID actually cook but ended up burning the rice to the pan then it just burnt up without ever going to the warm setting. After that it wouldn't do anything. Both of these were used only once and I followed the instructions to a tee. I can't recommend this thing, If you do get one that actually works, save the receipt and ask if you can return it to the store you purchased it from before buying it. Don't buy it off of the T.V. you may not get a refund. 👎

It's great that this act was made into law. However civil servants at all levels should be denied pensions that the taxpayers fund. Civil servants don't pay into my retirement, or that of anybody else. Taxpayers end up funding the retirements of Federal, state, county, city, postal retirements, etc. How much is that out of our labors, our families wealth, and our own retirement savings? Make govt employees fund their own retirements - just as most other citizens do. It's pathetic and basically criminal.

The Social Security Fairness Act, which is going to be signed into law on January 6, 2025 by President Biden, and which is being heralded as a bipartisan victory that will restore full Social Security benefits for millions of Americans, is actually a textbook example of what happens when unions co-opt politicians to adopt policies that help their members, but that hurt the public interest. Under the law that is about to be passed, a school teacher, who worked for an employer that opted out of Social Security, will be eligible to receive a survivor's benefit that a nearly identical school teacher, with identical lifetime earnings, who paid into Social Security for their entire life, would be ineligible to receive. What is worse, this law does this by allowing these non-covered workers to pretend that they are poor, and that they had no earnings in the years where they paid into their own retirement system. The Social Security Trust Funds are not broken down into income brackets (there is only the OASI Fund, and the DI Fund), but by operating in this way, the law robs these Trust Funds of money that was specifically designed to go to the neediest beneficiaries (this is why groups like the Urban Institute are opposed to this law). It is too late to stop the passage of this law, but the least voters can do is remind their elected representatives (especially the ones who supported this law) of the injustice of the two nearly identical school teachers, and of the injustice of the widow, who is trying to survive on a $1000/mo survivor's benefit from Social Security. Most important, voters should demand that these State and Local Government entities be grandfathered into the Social Security program.
