I updated mine today. I could not backup the original firmware as it kept asking me to open folder. After uploading hte update version, I think the settings were wrong to back up as it was *bin and not hex setting. It had taken me some time to get it to update as when on the *bin setting, it wouldnt recognise the hex file. But it is all done now. I just wish you described everything when showing what you did and clicked on. Some people do, but this was the only video I could find to update the DSO138. Plus I tried to download the DESO138 Flash loader but it wouldnt start up. I think it was because I have windows 11. I had to type Flash Loader Download to get one that worked. But I finally updated and got it installed and up to the latest original firmware.

Hi, thank you very much for your question. We are not sure to what are you referring in your question. If you are asking about detecting a bio-electrical field of plants - we have no knowledge about any scenarios where this particular oscilloscope was used in any such experiment. Thank you for a very interesting question. We might look into this matter furthermore. If we find any sources that relates to your question we will keep you posted.

Hi, thank you so much for your question. Some multi-meters have basic square signal generator (the oscilloscope itself has the same square signal generator). Also, there are dedicated cheap signal generators. They generate basic sine, square, triangle and saw signals of various frequencies and amplitudes. You can look online for them. They are also soled under the name "function generators". Usually, they are under $5, with shipping. I hope this helps. Please check other videos on our channel dedicated to works and functionalities of the oscilloscope.

If I hadn't gone to upgrade the firmware of my new "DSO 138 Oscilloscope" (as I do with all my electronics), I wouldn't have found out I was sold a COUNTERFEIT version of the product which was an exact match to the fake model you displayed in this video. Even though I have already built the kit, I immediately made a return to Amazon stating the website description was incorrect. The seller was selling these as "DSO 138 Oscilloscope Kit" which it is not. Thankfully I am well within the 30 day return window and Amazon processed the return with no problems. And thank you for including the response from FNIRSI, that was a perfect example of politician double-speak which was devoid of any informational value whatsoever. I had been considering purchasing a bench top Oscilloscope that included some FNIRSI models, but after seeing their handling of this issue, I will not consider ever buying any of their products. I think you are performing a valuable service to people who can be and are fooled by unscrupulous vendors selling sub-standard knockoff products. The JYE Tech product may not be the most up-to-date, sophisticated, pocket Oscilloscope; however, it is a great, low-cost and usable instrument for anyone wanting to further their electronics hobby. In any cases, we should all do what we can to identify and boycott counterfeit goods.

@asquicklyaspossible
@asquicklyaspossible 8 ай бұрын
Hello, thank you very much for your question. If you successfully replace the chip on board, you should not have any difficulties programing new (empty) chip with firmware of your choice (providing you have an original device). However, should you encounter any problems in programing new firmware, there is always a fallback option of obtaining very cheap and easily accessible EPROM programmer. You can use it to directly write firmware to the chip, and then place newly programmed chip back to board. Again, thank you very much for your question and we wish you success in repairing your device.

Hi, thank you very much for your question. If you do not have an original DSO 130 oscilloscope from JYE Tech, you SHOULD NOT attempt a firmware upgrade. You may brick your device for good. As of now, there are no official firmware updates for FNIRSI device. We hope this answers your question. We wish you all the best.

@asquicklyaspossible
@asquicklyaspossible 8 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for your question. Since there is no on/off switch on board itself, unplugging DC power supply has the same effect as removing battery - it turns off the board. Only way is to implement mechanical switch between battery and board, so that you don't have to remove battery every time you want to turn off the oscilloscope. Adding a on/off switch directly on board would be an interesting DYI project. Again, thank you very much for your question and we wish you all the best.

I put my DSO 138 Oscilloscope a long time ago but I found your channel and decided to learn the ins and outs of the device. One thing I realize is that my square function pin is soldered without the 10k resistor. Would you post a picture of how to do it properly? Shouldn't just be easier to 3D print a case? I think I can do something like that.

Hi, thank you very much for your comment. You do not need 10K resistor on your square generator output pin. 10K resistor comment in the video was a sarcastic comment on our part, for all those people all around Internet and YT who put 10K resistor everywhere just for the sake of it, without any real need. You can use your square generator output as is. It will work just fine.

Hello, thank you very much for your comment and question. In our experience, the problem you are facing is connected with jumpers J1 and J2. Although the screen is blank, that does not mean that you have properly short-circuited J1 and J2 jumpers. If you opted to soldier them, please check if you have accidently made a contact with other soldier points nearby jumpers. From the rest of your comment, it would have seemed that you have carefully and skillfully covered all other potential points of failure, so bad soldier connection remains likely cause. Also, you could use a multi-meter to check if there is short-circuit connection between J1/J2 jumper and other soldier points nearby. Also, please double-check that you have cross-connected RX and TX connectors between DSO138 board and USB adapter of your choice.

What JYE Tech need to do is move on. There are 100+ fakes of this. However it is way behind the times. There are mini-scopes that blow yours out of the water at the same price. Pushing this old design will get you nowhere. Your valid competition (Fnirsi, ZEEWEII, etc..) are way ahead of you. If you don't move on you will be gone. BTW, your blinking diode for trigger was annoying. Very distracting .. so I cut it off. I can see from the waveform on the screen if the scope is triggering. I don't need an overly bright led flasihng in my eyes the whole time.

Hi, thank you so very much for your time and interest in our video. You are very correct, with this video we wanted to show how you can tangent virtually anything with two current economic fads, in this case - oscilloscope. Literally, anything and everything can be made sustainable and as for circular economy, it is like re-inventing wheel all over again, every 5 years. In any case, we greatly appreciate your input and wish you all the best.

How confusing. I wanted to upgrade the firmware on my DSO 138 but was guided here by your video on that subject. Now I don't know what to do as mine can't be a fake if there are no fakes. On the other hand it can't be genuine either. Very Alice In Wonderland. I think I'll be cautious and not try it, as mine doesn't have the JYE Tech logo. I'd love to know how JYE deal with warranty issues. Well done for researching this as far as you could go.

Hi, thank you very much for taking interest in our videos. The firmware upgrade procedure is applicable ONLY to genuine JYE Tech DSO 138 oscilloscope. The device from the other no-so-very-much-genuine manufacturer cannot be upgraded in this fashion, or in any other way. Please do not try procedures from the video, unless you are certain you have an original JYE Tech DSO 138 device, the one with the logo. In one of the future videos from this series, we will address the issue of non-existing original manual or any other documentation, pertaining to this no-so-very-much-genuine DSO 138 device. Again, thank you so very much for your interest in our work and your time. It is highly appreciated.

Seriously who cares? This costs less than a burger, fries and drink at McDonald's! Why spend so much time, effort and money trying to protect it when it can be replaced so easily? That case alone is half the price of the scope. Not to mention it's a PIA to put together (mostly getting the paper off the parts) and hampers use of the scope.

@PeaceToAllEvenYou Жыл бұрын
While I do think that this is indeed a pointless video, I think that your assertion that the device is too cheap to worry about is one I don't agree with - the scope is cheap to many of us, yes - but to some, it was an investment and useful to them for education or other use out in the field which would usually cost a lot more...
@uni-byte
@uni-byte Жыл бұрын
@@PeaceToAllEvenYou True, and I'm a believer that a $40 scope is better than no scope at all. However, in this particular case, the DSO 138 with the acrylic case, is just about the same cost as the DSO 154 Pro with internal battery and scope probe which has a 18MHz bandwidth, is better protected against damage and has a much better UI. Today it's just a bad choice.

Hi, the formula for calculating DC power is P=UI, where U is supplied voltage, I is circuit current, so, your math is correct, 9V power supply, with 200mA gives you 1.8W of power. Multiply the result with (h) to het Wh (and divide by 1000 to get kWh). Hope this helps.
