Hey Chief! Just wanted to say Kudos on the channel! I came here from SU! I’ve been getting into Lego this last year and it’s great to hear your takes! Defo wanna get the Tudor Corner and try to get some of the available Previous modular sets. My confidence isn’t there to build my own just yet so I would lean towards preset builds! Keep up the good work!

Glad you're here, mate. Yeah, starting with pre-existing sets is a great idea. You'll learn new techniques with every set you build.

I think you may need to get out of London a little more, because it wouldn’t be in my top 10 English cities with Tudor buildings (eg Chester, York, etc) and I’m in Miami.
@GBBricks-Yt4 күн бұрын
I'm well aware of that, mate. I've got family links in the North of England, Im in York a fair bit of the time. My point was the chimney sweep was a stereotypical 'Dick Van Dyke' type.

First time watcher, here from the SwtchUp promo. Regularly watch you on SwitchUp and came here to support this channel too. While I didn't expect to see anything here I wanted to buy (came because I like the sound of your voice and your approachable vibe), but when you were talking about the BlackTron, I think this was one of the space sets I actually had as a child! I really liked that set (and space sets in general) when I was a kid and I may consider getting this one to do with my 9yo son who otherwise generally leans into the Lego Minecraft genre. Anyway, thanks for the fun content - and I'm rooting for you and your continued KZbin success!

Wow, I love the nostalgia this look back brings. I didn’t have this set, but I did have a number of the Space sets, including some of the ones you had flashed. Such great memories. Looking at this set is like opening a time capsule. It’s amazing to see the differences in official Lego design from then and now. I doubt you’d ever see a mostly flat base in a set these days, yet there was so much charm and so much fun to be had with all of those moving parts, side builds, and how they all work together. Less complex, perhaps, but likely more fun! Great video, as always!
@GBBricks-Yt15 күн бұрын
I completely agree. Yes, modern sets have a much more complex infrastructure and design. But these older sets have such a level of charm and still work well as play sets to this day.

I made this retro review a few months back for a set from one of my favourite sub-themes as a kid. I contemplated if we'd ever see a return for Blacktron. Lo and behold, a new Blacktron set has been announced for 2025, so I reckon it's time to release this video! It's an older video, so the set-up isn't as good as the one I use now, but hopefully you'll still enjoy it. Is this a set you have any nostalgia for? Let me know in the comments section. Happy New Year everyone!

I hear ya' on some of your 'missed' sets. A few you have are on my list too. I was like you when having a kid. Collecting had to take a back seat naturally. I got my Top 10 regrets here...sob...;) - 852293 Castle Giant Chess Set (just plain missed picking this up, but to my defense at that time I was out of the Dark-Ages for only like a year or two and wasn't too heavy yet in collecting Lego yet). - Yoda Minifig - NY I Heart Torso (was on a school day, picked up my son from school and was planning on heading down - we live in NYC - but we were hungry and just wanted to eat and head home, plus my kid was tired from school. Who KNEW it'd be this valuable today). - 10237 Tower of Orthanc (another I slept on and missed out). - 70840: Welcome to Apocalypseburg! (really regret this the MOST. Saw it on sale too at Costco for $200 at that time, missed it, then the pandemic came and wasn't thinking about collecting and now, yikes the price for a mint one. I WILL get it eventually. Saving up for it now). - 10236 Ewok Village (could've gotten this FREE. At an NYC comic convention where Lego had some sets on display for kids to play with. They mentioned if I came back with my son they'd hook us up since they were giving away stuff on the last day of the show. And unfortunately we couldn't make it back to their booth on that last day. Ughhh). - 21010 Robie House (another just slipped by. Lovely dark red and design throughout). - 21005 Fallingwater (another Frank Lloyd Wright's brilliant design I missed from Lego). - 21311 Voltron (planned on getting it, saw prices AFTER it was retired that were low to fair, then boom a couple years back prices exploded on the aftermarket. Will eventually get it). - 10255 Assembly Square (another I just procrastinated on). - 7682 Shanghai Chase ( i have EVERY Indy set, my fav Lego theme, except this one. I completely really spaced on getting this. Seemed like it was on the shelf for a very short time at my local shop).

The endurance story is incredible until you look at the recieving party. They had deaths and all sorts of problems also, all trying to help shackelton, who wasnt coming. Then you realize shackelton ran aground only 100 miles from where they planned to start the expedition, why tf didnt he just do the expedition? 100 more flat miles isnt that big of deal when crossing a continent. A great story on the surface look a little deeper and the endurance is a huge tragedy.
