@ntdracing3 күн бұрын
Not totally proud of this, but while I do have the ability to drain the table, I usually just leave it in the table until it evaporates off. takes a few weeks in Colorado. Once the table is dry, I will pick out the big pieces and scrape the rest out maybe vacuum some of the little pieces. After owing it for 4 years, I spend less time keeping it pretty. I do clean the moving parts with WD40 and Oil to make sure those parts keep working smoothly...the table just works.

Yeah, my understanding is most factory axle housings have a little bend upwards in the middle so that when they have the vehicles weight on it they flex into a flat position. So your 1.7 degrees was probably more like 3 from the factory location. But after you reinforced with the truss, all that goes out the window and you have to find your own numbers for deflection at static and max load.
@ntdracing4 күн бұрын
@@austinlambert3994 I wish I measured it before I sent it. I will say that I did everything wrong with that truss design. The dimensioning and fabrication was adequate, but the design was flawed. I welded a landing location for the bump right to the tube. I think that created a stress concentration at the largest load point. We did have a crack in the tube. I am just hoping the axle will last one more race as I am getting two more axles to build up better. Mainly focusing on distributing the impact loads across the tube with a better truss.
@austinlambert39943 күн бұрын
@@ntdracing This might also be an issue in your bypass. I don't know what tuning tradeoffs you chose but slamming the bump stops hard enough to bend a 1 ton axle is a hard hit. It's possible that a quality shock tuner would have transferred those loads to your lower link. Just a thought.

There will be challenges making everything work with “new” truck like the BCM. Since I swap into race cars, I do not have to deal with any of that. But as far as power goes, if you keep all the parts together it should involve simple wiring and removing VATS. I would just swap the engine first then CAM swap later. I have an M818 which is the tractor variant of your truck. The 6X6 is not full time. The front axle engages through an over running clutch (sprag) in the transfer case when there is more than a 10% slip in the rear axles. The sprag is controlled directionally through air poppet valve on the passenger side of the transmission. There is a declutching cylinder on the front of the transfer case that shifts the sprag from forward to reverse direction. When moving from N-5 to R or back you will hear an air pop under the cab tunnel. This is the poppet valve activating the declutching cylinder. Make sure you don't run the sprag opposite to the selected direction especially on the hardball. You can turn off this feature by adding in an air cut-out on the poppet air supply line. Removing air from the declutching cylinder sets it and the sprag to neutral. I've got my truck set up this way. I have also upgraded my truck to dual circuit air brakes with s-cams in the rears and wedges in the front.

I'm sure this drying setup will get the job done, but what I did gets the air before it goes to the tank. I cut the line straight out of the compressor pump and ran a transmission cooler and two fans, then two dryers then into the compressor tank. The temp drop of the transmission cooler is HUGE. One other note is that HF has Merlin High Flow couplers and they look to be about 2X the flow of a regular coupler. Also, the copper should angle down so that the water will flow down to a drain instead of sitting in the pipe. One last note: if that compressor isn't enough, you can add another to your system and double your output and have them go into an extra tank. That's what I did and it was amazing. I did use ONE pressure switch to control BOTH compressors so that they wouldn't fight over start/stop times.

Honestly just here to HELP not being a jerk at all. But first and foremost I have a shop and do custom paint. I can't stress this enough especially if using a BLACK WIDOW or any HVLP, but Especially a "HTE" gun, it's not about PSI, all the PSI in the world means nothing. You need cfms, like a compressor rated at a minimal 12.5 cfms @90, and that's super low. A rating 14.5 -15 cfms @ 90 would be ideal. Again I'm just here to help, hope this helps someone before they run out to buy a Mcgraw. CFM ratings are the most over looked technicality in the painting process. You may get paint out but it won't lay down material as nice as it should and will cause problems. I can honestly say, just having a compressor with the right CFM's alone paired with even the shittiest gun will out perform a great gun with underated cfms. I can lay down paint like Barrett-Jackson Jackson out of the gun, no wet sand or buff, nothing with a 69.99 HF chrome professional water born gun, just as well as my Black Widow or Iwata or $1300 SATA, with the correct cfm's. I'm willing to help anyone if need be, I'm not on here alot but helping eachother is what it's all about. In the end have fun with the process guys, what it's all about.
