I'm not Speaking in tongues to put on a show like some churches do to get tithes and members. Some of them are for real and others aren't but that's a different topic for a different day. Speaking in tongues according to 1 Corinthians 14, speaking in tongues is primarily considered a sign for unbelievers, not for believers within the church. It is described as the ability to speak in an unknown language, often interpreted as a spiritual gift from the Holy Spirit, but with the emphasis that it should be accompanied by interpretation for understanding within the church community; the most relevant verse is 1 Corinthians 14:2, which states, "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."
