What's happening with BCM? Their AUM is down from nearly $6b to just over $1b during a raging bull market for public equities over the past few years.

Great interview and considered investing until I checked Eagle Point (ECC) total return from 2014-2024 and found it was ~7%. Seems like a lot of volatility and risk for that return. One reason for the lower return is likely fees which are ~9% annually per the annual report. Would be curious to know if there is something I'm missing?

"Take more risks. There are lucky people those who try more things. Like one basketball player is waiting for something to work 100% of the time and they shoot twice over game and get 2 baskets, and other people wait to 50% chance and they shoot 40 times and get 20 baskets. Which one is more successful in life? But life is not like basketball because life is not a binary outcome. Almost everything we do has steps in it. And lucky people are people who try lots of things and then cut out the things that don't seem to work and double down on the things that do work."

I like Scott, but it is so naive to think that we can grow ourselves out of our problems when the nature of politicians is to continually increase spending as tax revenue increases.

What a perfect choice for Treasury. Two comments I found very interesting that are opposing...he says his absolute best idea right now and he is positioned for it is Gold. Then, suggests if he was part of the administration, growth is the only way out of the debt situation. Would love to know how he feels about gold today knowing a growth economy is very bad for gold.

@@tylerwinkle323 He can be out of touch though, like your typical non-bottom up hedge fund managers. He recently said $500 could not buy you a night even for a shed in London (not quite true but I suppose he does not stay in places like Premier Inns).

after half an hour of listening, I am puzzled by the guest tendency of diving into the past. In fact, I've noticed macro managers heavy tendency to focus on the past. I have however to acknowledge his call on JPN, which I did catch for an handful amount of money, thanks to him.
