You have an issue with your stepper motor. Its fluctuating. Can sometimes be ok if removed and cleaned with carb cleaner. Either that or throttle body needs a good clean. Common with the Rover engine back in the day

Sensor? (Er, not sure what it's called... the one in the air intake) Or plugs need a clean? In yee olde days a blast of brake cleaner down the carb would have sorted that out....

The indicator stalk on later facelift models was on the left. Earlier ones were on the right, which is actually the correct side for a RHD vehicle as you can still operate indicator while simultaneously changing gear. Most British cars like Rover and Jaguar used to also be like this until the late 70s but changed to suit the European export market being predominately LHD and to save costs on duplicating parts. Japanese cars changed eventually but much later owing to the fact they also drive on the left. The Carina E the E meaning Europe was also built in Japan and the first early registered J and many K plate cars were imported, the Estate version remained imported for many years

Our boss had a brand new one back in the day and most workers laughed and thought it was a bit of an embarrassment!😅 Now after all these years I'd love one myself, Rover with no money left where ahead of the game. The urban crossovers are everywhere now Dacia Stepway ,Fiesta Active, Aygo X , Polo Dune , Mokka , 500 X , Nissan Duke the list goes on 😂

Cars are so much more to buy, tax and insure in Ireland, compared to the UK. Are you from Liverpool? Now living in Ireland with a slight Dublin accent?

I have just hired one of these. The most irritating car I have driven. It’s also uncomfortable and you can’t see kerbs, or out the back. Make sure you take avery long test drive before you buy one. I’m a big Mercedes fan but this is dreadful

2.0 carina e, '97. It was regularly backfiring when I bought it, replaced plugs&cables yet it turned out to be oil leaking into the distributor. Replaced it & now drives great, hassle-free . Its quite a peppy engine, specifically when using the overdrive :). Fully agree with you, seats are absolutely great for my sore back!

I love seeing things like this and wondering what they were... and the history of why if came to be left there... Maybe "Broke down" and then forgotten about... or dumped by someone and as it was out of the way no-one chassed up on removing it.

This is exactly the problem mine has currently on both sills. I'm looking at £2,000 as I need complete new entire sills and for new holes to be drilled and then welded onto the chassis.

Wonder how that road and the surroundings would compare to today - almost 30 years later. Fabulous bit of historical footage. I’m guessing the Colt is long gone to its recycling reward? I had a Black Vectra TD then. Pretty sure it’s not around anymore!

Good on your for getting stuck in. The 2nd side looked like you had improved a lot. If you are finishing a panel that get's hidden I find seam sealer does a better job of sealing the gaps and covering welds up and provides better rust protection than filler. Also I would recommend get some cavity wax in there or it will rust from the inside out fairly quickly on Irish Roads, Great that you are saving this car and getting it back on the road.

Why do everyone who try do welding keep tacking in stead on doing small runs with a flux wire mig you have to make sure the metal is clean I'm a welder of 25 years and I have a good mig welder machine £300 and mine is gass/gassless (flux wire)and i do use flux wire on body work as saves me gas but body only your less powerful machine on 0.8 not strong enought for the chassis and you no wat im Going to say about your welding your not experienced welder fabricator you should of had a practice on metal before for starting to do the car but don't blame you for having a go
