This guitar is a fabulous parlour. I have, and have owned, numerous high-end Martins, Gibsons and USA Guilds and this really does hold its own in term of tone and playability as a fingerstyle guitar. Super comfortable to play and more generous string spacing than most of the Martin 15 series guitars on which this is based. The solid top is getting better and better as well. Incredible value and set up well right out of the box. Get this and save your cash! [The latest version which I have has a nice aged finish]

Belter of a sea trout, looks in real good nick for this time of year. I fished from the bucks down the the blue bridge on opening day and never had a touch.

Thanks, I was using a Greys GR60 14' 9/10wt rod with a Maxcatch 650 grain skagit line and a 10ft T14 tip. The Maxcatch skagit lines are brilliant for the money!

Nice job. Add weight to the front and add water resistance to the back (like an intruder). Water resistance = upwards push by the current. Many winged salmon flies look like a running superman underwater.

0:21 don't strike for salmon. Most of the time you either pull the hook out of their mouth or hook them poorly. Keep the rod down and let the current set the hook, then you can lift the rod. Lovely fish by the way and great release.
@gradun123 Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I remember a season a couple of years ago when I lost just about every salmon which took. However at that time I tended to let a taking fish run for several seconds before tightening. Nowadays, when a fish takes when the fly is fishing round, I will still let the fish take line but only briefly before lifting the rod. This has worked well for me since as I cannot remember the last salmon which came off since adopting this method.

😶 I've played two of these, one "e", one not, and they were all treble and midrange. If you're gonna pay 1200 bucks for an imported, laminated back and sides guitar, buy a Yamaha LS6, a better guitar, for 1/2 the price.
@gradun1232 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've not played the LS6, however I did try one of the more expensive Transacoustic models. I wasn't that impressed with the tone. The other thing I don't like much about the Yamahs's are the neck. The neck and playability of the SC13 is superb and the overall comfort is pretty much unbeatable. The other thing which would concern me regarding the Yamaha is it's long term stability. I've worked on several yamaha's where the top has pulled up so high that the action was just hopeless. Surprisingly this Martin has proved to be extremely stable so far despite the slim neck. It also has the unique neck joint which makes any adjustment to the neck angle easily possible. Finally, I think you can hear from the recording that my particular SC13e has a real nice balanced tone and doesn't lack bass. For example, it has a far better bass response than a friend's Taylor 814ce deluxe which I've played several times. However, I have in fact played another friend's new SC13e which compared to mine was as you say, all treble and midrange. It may open up more as it's played. Time will tell..

J'ai moi aussi une sc-13 e depuis janvier 2022, est tu au courant a quoi sert la vis a côté de la trus rod j'ai rien trouvé sur le net.
@gradun1232 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, my apologies. My french is very bad so am not sure what your comment is. If it's regarding adjusting the truss rod or the stability of the neck and guitar I can confirm that it appears to be a very stable instrument so far. Truss rod adjustment is carried out in the conventional Martin fashion with a long 4mm allen key.
@gradun1232 жыл бұрын
Ah, I've just realised what you're asking Ray. That screw is for adjusting the intonation of the guitar. If you search Martin SC13E neck adjustment, you'll find a Martin manual download with all the info needed..

I’m thinking that your fantastic playing helps the Taylor here.
@gradun1232 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ian, I'm not sure my playing is fantastic but appreciate the comment. Regarding tone, perhaps some guitarists do not realize the importance of the length, shaping and smoothness of the nails on the right hand when playing a nylon string guitar. This can make a big difference as any classical guitarist will know but will also affect tone on steel string guitars.
