Yes Sir, Any column which is of LOB data types. Possibly, I should have mentioned like one of the example. Thank you for pointing out. It could be any of these ntext, text, varchar(max), nvarchar(max), varbinary(max), xml, or image.

Thank you a lot. I was working with mssql for almost fourteen years until I changed my job and I started to work with Sybase now . I knew next to nothing about Sybase before. Your material is a treat for me.
@jefferyyounce53724 ай бұрын
Regarding market share, you may want to consider migrating to Azure sql server, SQL database since everything MS offers is in the cloud these days. Sybase rocked back in the day and I last DBA'ed it in 2017 switching back to Oracle.

Thank you for the compliment - In my upcoming video, I have handled Deadlock and possible solution; In this video, I have covered both meaning Sybse ASE and MSSQL in parallel to see the difference and possible solution. I hope, you will like it.

Thank you for your comment on my channel, many companies are still using Sybase ASE as their database and since migration is a lengthy and troublesome process. Good to know that you used to be a Sybase DBA back in 2017, feel free to pass your feedback on my channel. Thank you!

Thank you Sir , I've one question Can we assign role to database user . if yes how can we write SQL query to to list which database user has what role ?
@dbasdiary7 ай бұрын
First thing is login, which is defined at server level, roles are also defined at server level. User is defined at database level, you need to add login as a user in any database and then grant role. Granting permission to a login and role is very similar, as far as finding permission is concerned, you can get details using sp_helprotect. Sorry for late response.

There are no practical sessions. It feels your are discussing this with your colleagues who is having complete knowledge. This is not at all informative. It is like pieces of vague information. Take it as a feedback.
@dbasdiary Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your reply. I am not sure what do you mean by vague information - I have covered all these through Lab and showed how does it actually work. Have also covered point in time recovery, you can check them here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5WVY41ujsSbjdk If you have any specific question, please let me know - I can try answering them.

For reorg rebuild i don't think there is requirement of same size available on logsegment. Also for space availibility on default segment as per best of my knowledge it should have 120% space free when running reorg rebuild
@dbasdiary Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. 120% requirement is at least and not the max. I have mentioned its safer to have that much space and also I have encountered issue myself when the space was less than that. I am sure you are referring KB 2308194. Please check wording "At Least". You can check another article by Peter www.petersap.nl/SybaseWiki/index.php/Reorg_rebuild

Do you think dba career has any future? Specially sql dba and Azure sql dba? And what's next after this
@dbasdiary Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. DBA certainly has bright future, only concern is - they need to be involved in more of creative jobs and analytical jobs rather than just performing backup, restoration and maintenance job as these will be taken care by automation and Cloud.

You may perform point in time recovery using cumulative backup along with full backup however stopat function won’t be available. Trunc log on checkpoint will be a concern for taking Tran backup.
