Part of the reason why Douglas disappeared towards the end of his career, little bit after Spartacus, he was involved in a scandal where supposedly he severely beat a female fan to the point the the walls were covered in blood in his hotel room because she refused to have sex with him. They had a carrier out on a gurney because she was completely unconscious, and if I remember the story correctly he beat her so severely that her face was disfigured from the beating. I forget which studio he was signed with at the time, but they had to pay off the victim, the hospitals, law enforcement, and the papers so the story would not get out in the public. They just basically quietly shelved him and basically made him disappear. It's like he made a whole bunch of films all of a sudden, this happened and he was gone. Wasn't just Natalie Wood that he did this to, it was other woman as well.

I agree Some had a code of ethics. New and fun. Some took thrmselves lightly. Showing up at unemployment regularly. Rhodes always prided himself in never having to be a waiter or.pump gas (not that there is anything wrong with that as Seinfeld would say). He was a working professional actor from the time he was 18. 2 years out for the Korean war.

It mostly is about how you treat other people, especially women. Flynn was not a bad person, females chased him, no the other way around; Sellers was a neurotic and unstable, but not a malign personality. On the other hand, Kirk Douglas and Rooney were nasty, despicable people. Sinatra- was he mentioned?- was a mixture: mostly disgusting, but sometimes generous.

@@rudithedog7534 Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi. Lenin, for instance, was completely ruthless, but impersonal. He was ideological fanatic, but didn't care if someone slighted him personally. Stalin, on the other hand, was a highly functioning psychopath who enjoyed humiliating and torturing other people, a sadistic monster- Mao was similar. There are levels as well dimensions of malignity. Most of these actors were just womanizers in the place where such type of behavior was basically normal. Fonda, for instance, did not rape anyone & his relationships with his children show that he was not a dad type personality. Nothing sinister about that. Kirk Douglas and Mickey Rooney, on the other hand ...

Evil? Just to point it out, Flynn wasn't just "acquitted", he was completely exonerated. It was proven in court that his accusers were frauds that had attempted to blackmail him. The guy was far from being a Saint of any kind, but being a drunk and womanizer doesn't make someone "evil"....

I don't mind actors being "bad" people because they are like all the rest of us and are human. What is a problem is that the successful ones can abuse their power in heinous and abnormal ways, and use their money and influence to hide their abuses. This is true of ALL people with money and/or power who choose to do so.

I think it’s pretty low when people bash the dead who are unable to defend themselves over things that are ancient history. It’s always due to jealousy and lack of character and/or talent.

I never liked Henry Fonda, no matter how good the "role" was that he played. He always seemed like a cold fish to me. I believe he was a terrible father and blamed his children for his miserable life and multiple, failed marriages. People dislike Jane Fonda and underappreciate Peter Fonda, but I think both of them--even if rich--were damaged badly. Henry Fonda scared me on the screen.

Please don't blame Marilyn Monroe's career, Joe DiMaggio was often cruel to her. He would with hold affection from her when he became angry for the smallest infraction as for Arthur Miller he wasn't by any means in love with Marilyn he only married to further his ambition. Miller treated more like a child and would often berate her for being clingy and childish. She was abused as a child and as an adult. My grandmother knew her.

I think calling them evil is overboard. They were complicated and troubled with pride. But, I really think Milton Burle is the absolute worst and could be considered almost evil. I remember him. His humor was not very funny. It was mean and cruel . It seems to me that he tried too hard to be like Don Rickles without the ability to make it work. His constant cross dressing was disturbing and weird. Bette Davis was not on the list but was horrible to people and involved in witchcraft. Some say she would cast spells on people to make them fail.

My small comments on the listed Hollywood actors: Carol Lombard, very angelic and reminiscent of Diane McBain's beauty. Rita Hayworth, a true Goddess of the 40's and 50's silver screen. A fine actor and dancer too. Garbo was simple with very neat features. Audrey Hepburn was 100 % talent, who did not rely on her elfin looks. She made a superb model. Marilyn Monroe easily the most stunning blonde to grace the silver screen, who remains an icon to this day. Ingrid Bergman, a terrific actor with classic beauty during her heyday in the 40's. Sophia Loren, Mama Mia what a complete woman and, wow! what acting!!! Grace Kelly, too artificial and la-di-da; the frigid type, who didn't actually show what a woman she was behind all that impeccable make-up. Elizabeth Taylor, a revered beauty during the 40's, 50's and 60's, who proved to the public she could act and win an Oscar too. Bette Davis was Hollywood Royalty in the acting department and is considered a great, even to this day. Kim Novak, ethereal beauty who proved she could act in numerous outings during the 50's and 60's, which was her peak period, is fondly remembered even today through re-issues of her classics.
