Education is the great equalizer. The uneducated will inevitably be relegated to the lowest paying jobs, or no jobs at all. Public education was originally instituted so that families of all income levels could provide an education to their children, providing hope that the next generation could break the bonds of illiteracy that restrained the previous generation. However, the failings of modern public education mirror the past: children of the middle and upper economic classes can purchase a high quality education by moving to a high-performing public school district or by purchasing private education. Children of the lower economic classes must make do with the often low-performing schools that serve low-income neighborhoods. Not providing a choice of high quality education to lower income students is condemning an entire segment of our society to low (or no) pay and the subsequent withholding of job satisfaction, personal fulfilment and self worth. Is the devaluation of an entire segment of our society really worth the short-term political expediency? Fund schools, all schools. Provide a broad array of options in education. Allow parents and students to make choices that best serve their interests. For once, provide a hope for a brighter future rather than a mirror of a failed past.

if any of this were true they would not need an ad. privatizing liquor stores is the worst idea among all of your horrible ideas.
It's obvious that the hacks that put this together didn't look into who it was for or they'd have gone for a less ridiculous an ironic gimmick than blaming a union for "silencing" anyone. The "Commonwealth Foundation" is PA's ALEC stink tank and is funded by the Koch brothers. The Koch brothers ONLY fund campaigns attempting to silence people: voters, workers, teachers, but mostly anyone who wants to talk about fossil fuel-based climate change.

Oh, is that what it's called now? A "Political power cycle"? I thought it was "money laundering." Don't forget to include the forced-dues' ultimate destination: the DNC. Then, once a Democrat is elected to office, the payback is crony capitalism to dispense those funds right back to public-sector unions. But I guess we now call it a Political Power Cycle when it occurs in the public sector. But when it happens in the private sector, I'm pretty sure it's still called corruption, racketeering, and money laundering. AKA a crime.

As an occupier, I DO NOT support the corporate laws being pushed by the Commonwealth Foundation. They are the exact opposite of the 99% needs. I'm sure its easy for them to push as they collect free money that injured workers should be getting after getting hurt FOR LIFE by corporations.

I hope Ron Paul wins the election, he will get the federal government out of education and give states and parents more freedom in regards to education. End federal mandates, they are hurting our kids.

@0101jazzy Why shouldn't teachers be able to bargain for fair wages? Why is it that one of the things that teachers unions are always fighting for is smaller class sizes. But they are never given that. What do you expect of teachers? Work for peanuts? Expect them to teach rooms of 50 children? Strikes are one of the way that teachers and any union and group of workers has to get significant change. I don't understand why people attack unions they help everyone.

If you are serious about school choice, then it's time to implement a REAL voucher system for everyone. PDE can determine the yearly per-student cost that's adequate to meet the state's standards. Then from an education operating fund (supported by broadened sales taxes), send this amount to the parents and let them spend it in any school of their choice. The current well-meaning bills are unconstitutional and will add cost to an already overbloated education budget.

@bodryn no argument here. actualy I have one idea what the special interest that causes LEDs to not recieve special benefits... CFLs contain mercury as such you have to be liscenced through heavy beaurocracy to legally manufacture the,... LEDs contain no such regulated substances, a small company could produce them without having to jump through any hoops... so powerful people do not gain power from the government promoting LEDs.
@bodryn14 жыл бұрын
@TAPriceCTR Interesting thing I have noticed: In Minnesota they will give people ?tax breaks? or something like that if they buy compact fluorescent bulbs - but nothing mentioned about LED bulbs, which are much more efficient! I don't fault Gore for that since he's long out of government, although I haven't tracked what he does, so I can't say. But obviously kickbacks are part of the whole corrupt system. Big business rules.
@TAPriceCTR14 жыл бұрын
@bodryn maybe, but I still have 3 more years for my ME degree and atleast 3 to be able to get the credibility to get private investors excited. government grants require things fit nicely into al gores "green" package.
@bodryn14 жыл бұрын
@TAPriceCTR Well, you obviously have a great advantage over most people - it should be a piece of cake to become an entrepreneur and make a ton of money doing it, and show others the way. Maybe like Henry Ford showed the USA how to put the country on wheels quickly, and get wealthy doing it. Harry Browne wrote a book 'How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World' - it may be fringe now, but if somebody (you?) makes a fortune with it, it won't be fringe for long.
@TAPriceCTR14 жыл бұрын
@bodryn there is a freaking TON of money in "green". billions of dollars in advertisments alone spent on telling people how to change their lifestyles to be cosmeticaly green (unplug your 0.5 watt cellphone charger, BUY reusable grocery bags) all insignificant changes for serious inconveniences. TDP is PROFITABLE after investment and is pure benefit environmentaly. fuel, energy, waste disposal and sanitization. but it remains fringe because it does not help powerful green people get more power
@bodryn14 жыл бұрын
@TAPriceCTR I did read a wiki article on TDP (and TCP). I have not kept up with these things much but they show a lot of promise. The problem seems to be, we Yanks are not being educated by the media properly - they are too much into keeping the people hyped up about America's enemies and the latest Hollywood scandals. There are so many promising technologies that are not being pursued much by govt and they seem to feel it is advantageous to keep the people uninformed.
@bodryn14 жыл бұрын
@TAPriceCTR I made the mistake of assuming you were a student right out of high school. When I first went to college, tuition was $3.50 per quarter hour, or $56 per quarter for a normal 16 credit load. I don't see how people afford school now. I don't know what ASVAB means but you scored high. I've scored very high on various tests too, not to be specified. I'm not so up to date these days on some stuff, still willing to learn and keep mind open.
@TAPriceCTR14 жыл бұрын
by the way, that acronym was misspelled so you would not have been able to research it, sorry, TDP. thermal depolymerization. it is more green that recycling and is a power source and is fully operational today. why do you not know about it? because it frees people from the oil industry without puting them under the regulations that suit special interests. the green movement is about power, not saving the planet.
@TAPriceCTR14 жыл бұрын
@bodryn student yes. young barely (31). nieve, not in the slightest. as a lowly screener with 1 month experience I predicted that something like 9/11 would occur just based on knowledge of the SOP. I scored a 97 (meaning I did not beat 2 of the previous 99 peopleto take it) on the ASVAB after a 7 years away from education or any work requiring the skills in the ASVAB. "who is leading" I do not give a crap about ethos, LOGOS is the only persuasion I respect.
@bodryn14 жыл бұрын
@TAPriceCTR Obviously you are still a student. You are young and trying to do the right thing. You won't believe all the things that will be thrown at you as you live life. I do hope that as you are learning about a lot of stuff that you can also learn the judgment skills to figure out who and what to believe and who is leading you down the garden path. I've certainly been homing my skills since over 40 years ago in grad school, and some military experience.
@bodryn14 жыл бұрын
@TAPriceCTR Okay, perhaps I jumped to conclusions about your views. As for Gore, I haven't examined how he makes his living, but when I realize he is the first man in US history to ever actually win an election and not be able to serve out his term, I think he has handled that pretty well. He also served in Vietnam as an enlisted man, despite being a senator's son. So I cut him a lot of slack, personally.
@TAPriceCTR14 жыл бұрын
@bodryn the most ironic thing is that my carbon footprint is 2/3 the average american making it a mere 1/30th al gores... my lifestyle is probably greener than yours. the political crap is fraud gores cap and trade scam. the green movement is not about the environment or they would invest in the building of DTP plants instead of money scams. more irony, I probably know more about more alt fuels that you as well and will do more to produce them after graduating.
@TAPriceCTR14 жыл бұрын
@bodryn ROFL. you know how you can tell that you are a moderate? both sides tell you that you are swallowing propaganda from the other. I do find things out for myself from disinterested and hostile sources unlike fraud gore, "the ex future president" as he calls himself, I actualy look at facts. you have not said ANYTHING that refutes my stand. I have not ONCE said the planet has not warmed. nor have I EVER said things won;t change.
@bodryn14 жыл бұрын
@TAPriceCTR Maybe you should get out there and see what's happening rather than listening to the corporatist paid "news". I can guess where you get your "news". In Minnesota where I was born, we now have a lot of crap we didn't used to have. Deer ticks, lime disease, zebra mussels, lots more. I also have the option of hearing CBC news which I've heard all my life and they are trustworthy. Rather than spout your political crap, why not do the people a favor and find out for yourself?
@TAPriceCTR14 жыл бұрын
@bodryn we are not experiencing a "mass extinction" that is pure, unfettered green propaganda just as the polarbears struggling is.... polar bear popularions are GROWING. extinctions are not occuring due to "climate change" they are currently happening due to darwinistic failure. I support not poisoning the oceans but CO2 is not oceanic poison... it is plant food... and plankton are plants. as the pine beatles move north so will the pine forrests. life is a battle and species fight to life

@bodryn Follow up: Glacier National Park has gone from about 150 glaciers at its inception to about 25 now. One day soon the park will have no glaciers at all. CBC news often mentions stories of how warming in the far north is changing people's lives there. Also the sea level has risen some 8 inches in the past few decades.
