That was just wonderful to watch. Sadly I never did get to fire or even travel along the Maclear line. Do you remember what 19D they used on your trip?? It looks like my old favorite 19D 2683 but perhaps not. As for Montagu, well I just loved that 14CRB and GEA. I fired both locos up that pass many times and loved them both. Saying that, the GEA was the more easier one to fire of the two. The 14CRB would burn the arse off the fireman and after two trips up Montagu on her ones overalls would be burnt through. Every time I turned towards the tender my overalls started to smolder from the heat. I had to keep pouring water over myself. Those were for sure the great days of my life. Before Voorbaai I was based in Kimberley and working that fast mainline was much harder work, especially on a 16E or other hand fired machines. Thanks for a great video

I'm sorry? But do Chinese Steam trains have horns? Because I don't hear any whistles, I only hear horns

Was the shot of 47580 at New Street filmed on Sat 3rd Sep 1988? I remember getting 47580 back to Bristol that day when it took over from 31407 at New Street working an afternoon York-Taunton service…

We travelled at leasure and peacefully. All this modern stuff, and speed has killed train travel.

I was hoping Elliot would be fully shown in video😢my grandfather was working the railstation in mid 70s before his retirement soon after. I have little memory of their house close or in the turn triangle. Hope any1 can help me with photos or video of the station from that time as i would like to make a model layout based on it.

Echt Wahnsinnsaufnahmen recht herzlichen Dank Erinnerungen and die Kindheit bzw Jugend
