Lost my best friend and hubs to brain cancer last fall. Our little house became even smaller with medical equipment, visiting hospice , and family members. It is an overwhelming task to cope with legal, final arrangements , distribution of property responsibilities in a state of acute grief .

My Mom passed away 12 years ago and the thing I miss most is her hugs. Every time I really, really miss her, it's her hugs that I remember the most and though it makes me cry sometimes, sometimes I can still feel her hugs and it lifts my spirits.

I have a done list. If I write down things I have done (right after I do them) during the day, I see how much I have accomplished. The list can include that I took my morning medicine, showered, prepped for dinner, etc. It is more motivating than a to-do list. I can have a things-that-need-to-be-done list at the ready if I think I am forgetting something that has to be done that day. It might not make much sense in having two lists, but it works for me.

I used to procrastinate so much before I learned about Executive Functioning and how to develop certain skills, namely Task Initiation and Time Management. I also had to let go of perfectionism and allow myself to do tiny tasks instead of a whole project to completion all at once.

I'm not sporty either but the best thing that happened to me in PE was as a teen was we did aerobics. Then I began to love working out on my own. I'm 55 and have always worked out or gone to the gym and done machines and weights. It does make a HUGE difference. Also need to vary your workouts. ❤

The bladder probs are terrible. I am starting on hormones today. Where I live compounded meds are not covered and she just told me I owe $150 a month. This isn't exactly a cheap fix. I have spent thousands trying other more natural things that didn't really help me that much. Praying this works. 😢 wow you are lucky the exercises helped. My pelvic PT is very invasive in my opinion, I would prefer to skip those appts. Hasn't helped much either.

I think you may have developed a hypersensitivity to menopause. There are side effects just from getting “stuck” inside your own head. You may be more sensitive because of leaving nursing, etc. ALL the focus is on you now. I’ve done this in my own life. My husband reminded me that I needed a new purpose in life. I’ve dealt with the harmones… I actually hid while I was in public…People were a complete annoyance. I couldn’t wait for my husband to leave in the morning… I didn’t want to be accountable to anyone. My joy came back through helping other people. Imagine that. Lol. The very thing I tried to avoid.

Estrogen would harm my health completely. I have estrogen fed breast cancer I have had to be put on an estrogen blocker due to metastatic issues in my skull. I think the percentage of women who might be affected negatively by estrogen is probably a lot higher than you might think you might want to put that out there.

I could not tolerate even the bioidentical hormones. I’m in my mid 50’s now, and post-menopausal. The biggest thing to prevent cancer and dementia is to eliminate sugar and artificial sweeteners. I like agave nectar and maple syrup instead in little amounts. Lisa Anne Dupree 🙂🌻🦋

Still listening but wanted to mention a couple of things. I got Celiac disease at 48. I suspect that perimenopause had something to do with the timing of that. Interestingly I had since my early 20s rosacea, but being forced go to gluten free cleared that up completely. I have never read about a link between those things, but there ya go.
@jennyjenkins87729 күн бұрын
It's absolutely possible! I just read an online article entitled "Can menopause cause gluten intolerance?" and it states: The reason this happens is all to do with menopause affecting our digestive system in lots of different ways. Our digestion becomes less efficient breaking down and absorbing food. And we know there is something called leaky gut. So, if you're not breaking your food down properly, larger particles of undigested food can escape from the digestive tract and your immune system can trigger a kind of allergic reaction. We know too that the time it takes for you to eat your food until your bowels work can be longer, so these foods are sitting for much longer in the digestive tract. If the digestive tract itself becomes inflamed or more sensitive, then food being in there for longer can start to irritate the gut wall more and you can end up with a condition such as inflammatory bowel syndrome. I was diagnosed with a different autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis) at around the same age as you. Both of our conditions have an inherited component so we've always had the genetic predisposition but they were dormant until something triggered it. For me, I had C0VID earlier in the same year that I was diagnosed so I thought that's what got my immune system all out of whack. I attributed the noticeable gain in belly fat to my low-functioning thyroid but now I'm thinking that perimenopause was at play too... sort of a double whammy! I have all the signs of gluten intolerance mentioned further on in the article but I'm not ready to cut it out just yet. Best of luck in your health journey!

One easy diet trick is to not eat after about 6PM. I used to eat supper at 5PM or 6PM with my grandparents and when I was away at school too. And then I didn't eat until breakfast. I always felt the best then. It's been my new dining habit again for several years. It works for me.

Having your hormones "win the battle" isn't as awful as you are imagining. Perimenopause and menopause happen and they're not so awful if you can learn to adopt them into your life/routines. Those are natural processes and life events at our ages. I went through it all without any fanfare and it really wasn't bad or even super eventful. What you say is true from my experience: Eat almost exclusively healthy, exercise, sleep on a schedule. No snacking. It will all be fine.

You are hilarious! Also, I love that your extra wood flooring can be under your bed since you do not have storage filling under the bed. So much more out of the way instead of the wood being in a pile somewhere in the house.
