The amount of negativity on all these Gtar videos I've seen is plain ridiculous! Some people ask "what was wrong with learning guitar the "normal" way"? The fact one would even ask that means they're really not thinking through it enough! Think! Think about it thoroughly! Honestly I will never understand why people practically romanticize the "traditional" way of doing things (in this case, learning guitar). "traditional" doesn't always mean "best". We've seen products over the years that are in some ways similar to this one, and again, people hate on it and try to claim that "real guitars" are "better". Why? because you have to put a lot of pressure on the frets and strings which practically makes your fingers blead? LOL, give me a fuckin break! Are these same people going to criticize a guitar-like MIDI controller like the Starr Labs Z-tars, for example, because they're not "real" guitars? :/!

I don't hate this guitar because I find a traditional guitar romantic. I hate it because it sounds terrible and the quality and build are terrible. And they had the nerve to try and sell this thing for a LOT of money to beginners who didn't know any better. They were promised an easy way to learn on a quality device. What they wound up buying for themselves and/or their children was a crappy quality midi guitar. They took advantage and exploited the beginner's market. THAT is why I hate this product and the fly by night company who robbed people.

@@CrookedEyeSniper Well that's fair, but I didn't necessarily mean playing a guitar is "romantic" when I said "romanticize"; I guess what I was getting at is that people often seem to act like doing things the 'traditional' way is soooooooooo amazing and the very very very very best way to do it, for everyone else, and this is how it must be done, because if you do it differently then you're "fake" or whatever. The fact of the matter is, traditional guitars are pretty hard on the fingers; pushing those metal strings against those frets gets painful. It's not hard to imagine an electronic guitar for learning purposes that's much easier on the fingers, while still having some degree of realism: The frets could instead be pressure sensors (and you could control how much pressure you need to apply in order to activate them, for comfort), and there might be, for example, rubber strings stretched over the neck; when you press down on the strings, that pressure is therefore transmitted to the pressure sensors. This would give a feeling of pressing strings against frets, while feeling much easier on the fingers. Alternatively the strings could just be normal metal strings (which would obviously give more realism), but with the added benefit of choosing how much pressure you need to apply to the sensors you can make it feel less painful. These strings could either stretch all the way down the neck and across the body of the guitar (like a normal guitar), or alternatively there might be a second set of short strings on the body for the strumming portion. Pressing the strings against the pressure-sensor frets would tell the device which notes should be transmitted (just like the frets do on a normal guitar), and the strumming portion would indicate that it's now time for those notes to be transmitted (like the function of strumming a normal guitar). The strumming could be detected using either normal pickups (magnetic pickups or piezoelectric pickups for instance) or it could be detected by some other more unusual method; the "Synth Axe" from the 1980s, for example, used Hall Effect sensors to detect strumming, no pickups at all. String bending could be detected by some kind of "strain gage" or some other kind of sensor, say an optical sensor or something; there could be one of these bending sensors for each string. The device would send pitch bend MIDI messages when the sensors detect this bending. To me, a MIDI guitar like this, where the functions of pitch determination and pitch initiation are handled by entirely separate sets of sensors, much more accurately simulates how guitars actually work (using MIDI data) than those "pitch-to-MIDI conversion" systems which are seemingly very overhyped/overrated. PTMC has definitely gotten better than what it used to be, but I feel it's still inferior to having separate sensors like what I mentioned.

I had the pleasure of performing the Narration Role of this in the 1990's with the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra, Victoria, Australia. Almost 20 years later I still remember how wonderful it was with the Audience reaction and the interaction with the Orchestra. I hope to have the pleasure of doing so again in the future. What a inspiration Danny Kaye was to me and still is, sooooo much talent and great sharing of awareness of the many domains that make up Music. :)

What a lovely warming memory to have found on a freezing March afternoon. Always loved Danny Kaye. I recommend getting hold of film "The Court Jester" and defy anyone not to laugh out loud. Long may his memory endure.
