Neo can't follow me. I'm invisible. At least on my solar trike. So my question is, will it follow Jesus, or Trump, or Taylor Swift, or Micky Mouse. I mean a picture. Or piece of cardboard. Or doll. Problem may be the hand catch. Perhaps Hitler?

Just a thought - I was experimenting the other day and the sun was quite low in the sky. Up until then it had followed me without any problem, but as soon as it looked roughly in the direction of the sun it got lost and just sat there. I could get it to recover for a bit by going right up to it, but it soon got lost again. I think it might also get a little confused if you are wearing a fluorescent jacket, but it usually recovers. It just seems to get blinded by the sun. I also discovered the direction track mode isn't any good with a bicycle. It gets left behind too easily and ends up doing what is essentially a follow. Works OK when walking, as long as you don't go too fast or shoot off in a completely different direction.

@@richardellingworth4484 The Neo would be a lot better if it worked with Maven, Litchi, or Dronelink. Because they will add GPS follow-me. It's not that I am against visual tracking. Great feature. But only from short distance. For shots further away you need follow-me. All three apps have what I call 'compass type' follow-me. It will stay north south east west relative to you at all times. So if you are riding north with the drone in front of you, and you turn left, the drone will continue at your right. Turn right and it will be in front of you again. I also think follow-me is much safer. I would use visual tracking on the public road. While follow-me is very predictable and away from any danger. I would tie a controller to the handlebars. Or perhaps use the virtual sticks on the phone if possible. So hopefully there is a third party app for the Neo soon. Why DJI keeps refusing to add GPS follow-me I have no idea. Active-track is great, but it is not a replacement for follow-me. They work entirely different for different shots.

@@richardellingworth4484 And I think it's a real shame the Neo doesn't have a nice small cheap WiFi controller. Using the touchscreen on the phone while riding a bike is pretty much impossible. Even better a split controller left/right so you have full control. Of course you can use a DJI controller. But I'm not sure if you can then launch it in optical flow mode? For me it's all about how fast I can get a drone in the air. If it takes minutes I won;t bother and just ride on. I want a drone that flies instantly in a matter of seconds.

Hi Richard and greetings from Denmark. I really enjoyed your recent video on flying the DJI Neo for the first time. Your genuine, unscripted approach and the way you explore the drone’s features in real-time made the experience both relatable and engaging. Your enthusiasm is truly infectious, and your lovely voice adds a unique charm to the content. As a fellow DJI Neo owner from Denmark, I found your journey particularly inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work. I’m looking forward to your future videos. Well done 👍 Cheers and Merry Christmas.

Yes it would. You're right. But that's no fun. I had read through some of the documentation and had some idea of what it was going to do, but it really was the very first time I had tried all the modes, so I wasn't 100% certain what it was going to do. Whilst the documentation is pretty good it doesn't always explain everything. For example, in follow mode you can configure it to use a height of "Low" or "Flat", but I haven't found an explanation of what this means. Some experimentation is required.

Folks, be sure to get the FlyMoreCombo when purchasing the Neo - I did so and was totally surprised by the different flight characteristics when using the controller - it makes the Neo not only A LOT faster and stronger against wind, it flies sooo much smoother and more precise. Also the decend speed is a LOT higher with the controller (it's also more stable when descending compared to the app mode). Plus, using the controller grants access to the camera settings and enables return home mode. So it's really a no-brainer.

VALLEY FORGE was a space freighter that was sent out to space with the last of the trees and forests, only to explode with a nuclear explosion by the last crew member that killed the other crew, in 1971

Yes, "Silent Running" is a much underrated movie starring Bruce Dern (Laura Dern's dad) as that last remaining crewman on the Valley Forge. The maintenance robots Huey, Dewey, and Louie were very impressive, and this was 5 years before Star Wars. It's not clear to me why the Valley Forge was so named, presumably after George Washington's winter encampment during the American Revolution and site of a battle. No idea where the forge was. All the other freighters seem to have been named after national parks, or at least after the areas of Amercia from which the plants were taken. The plants on the Valley Forge came from the Florida Keys (or so Wikipedia says). In the 18th century there was a forge in Forge Valley, North Yorkshire. It was about midway between East Ayton and Hackness. Nowhere near the railway line.

Burnley, the only place where you can get robbed for a keebab at midnight whilst wearing a pair of 150 quid Nike's but at least the toothless morons will let you keep your shoes to walk home hungry. This is a true storey. Anywhere else you walk home with cold feet however you get to keep the food.

The A170 road to Pickering is a nightmare for traffic, even off peak. The closure of this line was one of the worst decisions of the 50s - 70s “train-ocide”.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the station at Sinnington was never popular because there was a bus route that went through the centre of the village. This may have been a justification for closing it (not sure). Seems odd to me because the station really isn't that far away. The bus route is still there, but last year (2022) they came up with a cunning plan where every other bus bypassed Sinnington entirely (X28 bus). Seems like they have given up on that idea, but we now have one bus every two hours instead of one every hour (this even made Radio 4's Today program) and the Sunday service west of Pickering is now almost non existent apart from a couple of months in the summer. Used to have a decent Sunday service from Easter to the end of October. So much for local government's commitment to public transport. I do appreciate the £2 singles though.

Most of it was filmed in Sussex, around Framlingham and Orford, although the fictional town of Danebury is meant to be in Essex. Great video, surprised to see it pop up on my recommendations. I'm a local lad myself and my mum and dearly departed grandma have researched our family tree back a great distance and the Dewhurst side of my family are actually descendants of the Pendle witches, specifically Alice Redferne. There's a lot more to see and do around here. You should visit Towneley and Gawthorpe. You'll find some historical things around there but you have great walks across Cliviger, Padiham, Lowerhouse and more. I might add, locally we pronounce the village name Worsthorne such as the worst case scenario or Bratwurst. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed a nice Bene and Hot whilst here as Burnley has a real history with Benedictine. Have you been to Skipton at all? Seems right up your street.
