I have a GX3 bought as a combo and couldnt be happier. Easy enough to install with everything supplied. Also Bought the CX 415 bow sprit, LSM deck roller and MMX 3 anchor, great and strong set up. Reversing solenoid had an issue after about 18 months. Warranty claim was fast and easy, excellent customer service. Would recommend to anyone. Cant comment on the others.

Depends, if the line pull direction is fore or aft of the boat while using the fibreglass boom especially then yes, you may need to guide it a bit. If it perpendicular to the boat then no, you won’t.

Once it's installed and calibrated correctly with the rope and chain data, what's the accuracy?
@LoneStarMarineWinch10 ай бұрын
@@tomclaridge8583 great question. Once fine tuned to suit your rode (which is super easy), and provided the winch has been used at least a few times so the rope is pre-stretched and packed tightly, you can expect less than a meter variance. If, for example, you are getting 1m over or under repeatedly, you just add or subtract 1m of rope length in your settings. This will bring it back to 0. This is how you fine tune the settings. There were no outliers, ect. Its all perfectly repeatable & accurate once dialled in. There is also a ‘set to zero’ function that resets the spool to full, so say you do a retrieval & it says you are .3 of a meter over or under, rest to zero before the next drop.

Ive just ordered a GX1 for my boat after recomendations from other boat owners. I have a technical question i'm hoping you can answer. With a worm and wheel type gearbox a thrust load is generated onto the worm gear shaft. I'm wanting to know which end of the shaft has the better thust protection? I can then load the spool the right direction to maximise gearbox life. Thanks in advance, Simon
@LoneStarMarineWinch Жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, the difference is minimal, they can be loaded form either direction. More important is the fleet angle, you want that as wide as possible. In other words, avoid 90% bends in the direction of the rode coming onto the drum. This usually means loading the rope and chain over the top.
@Camh1968 Жыл бұрын
I read many users prefer to use electric trolling motors with spot lock over drum anchor winches. What are the advantages of the Lonestar anchor winch over the electric trolling motor with spot lock for anchoring?
@LoneStarMarineWinch Жыл бұрын
Good question. Obviously electric motors are battery and weather dependent. I have one as well, very handy for covering ground when lure fishing. Using one as an anchor in calm conditions is fine, however in any sort of wind or swell an anchor & winch are the better option. Also with an anchor winch you are not drawing any power while at anchor.
@Camh1968 Жыл бұрын
@@LoneStarMarineWinch Thank you. Why are TM's the less option in wind and swell - even with an extra long leg? What length of rope and anchor is comfortably required when fishing at depths of 40m (with a LSM GX3 unit)?
@LoneStarMarineWinch Жыл бұрын
@@Camh1968 wind/tide/swell will all have your TM working hard which will reduce overall run time. If you are only dropping in on spots for a short time you may be fine. If you are fishing a tide you may not. The GX3 has several rope & chain options from 100m to 300m drum capacity.
@TassieTiki Жыл бұрын
Is there an optimal height and distance from the curved roller to the drum please?
@LoneStarMarineWinch Жыл бұрын
Hi Neil In regards to height not really, just high enough so the rode doesn’t interfere with the hatch lid, internal lip, ect. Distance-the more the better. Obviously you will be limited by your top deck design.
