This is why I did my initial comparison video (see zinc vs. brass) as I wanted to hear with my own ears. Off the 'success' of that initial video, I was sent 2 blocks to demo for Musiclily who didn't give me a script to follow they just wanted me to make a video showing off the blocks and packaging and to do a demo. For the most part, the tonal changes are minimal at best and will be negligible in any kind of real-world situation. I like the extra weight the blocks provided to the instrument, which I why I personally like the brass. Do the trem blocks change the tone? In this users experience, no, not really. ✌️

Has anyone noticed that the guitar riff in 'Days go by' is an almost exact copy of Paperback Writer by the Beatles? Anyway, unless they publish something outstanding in the next few years, to me the band's creativity died at Rise and Fall. That album has some songs I love and others I MUST skip every time the album plays. Splinter is a fantastic album, I actually think it is superior to Conspiracy (which in my opinion is one of the worst).

@DaveViner
@DaveViner Ай бұрын
Unless your pickups are not functional, there is very little reason to replace them if your just playing live. Single coils to humbuckers and vice verse, sure, but the best way to alter your tone is to just use the EQ on your amp. Pickup swapping is purely for fine tuning and for fun. The audience will never hear the difference once it's gone through your amp, effects, amp, cab, and P.A.

@@DaveViner a big box big muff or a DS1 are also some cheap and easy ones to mod. They actually share the same style of tone control as well. My first pedal mod was a big muff and i actually removed the tone control, clipping diodes and a whole gain stage and added nothing and it's a totally different beast. Maybe not better but it's interesting
@DaveViner
@DaveViner Ай бұрын
Yeah, the DS1 is like the OG when it comes to modding. I need to do some research and learn a bit more about circuits and electronics, but it's definitely an interesting subject. Also,'maybe not better but interesting' is the best review I've heard 😅
@CryptToneMusic
@CryptToneMusic Ай бұрын
@@DaveViner Science of Loud and Brian Wampler have some great videos about pedal modding that make it a lot easier to understand, that's where i learned most of what I know. There's also a company called Anasounds that offers a Tube screamer kit that explains each part of the circuit as you build it and additional parts to mod it. It takes a while but once you start learning more and more pedal circuits the easier it gets because you start to recognize different things within circuits and how many pedals are basically just different flavors of the same thing or almost like Lego blocks rearranged in different orders in a way. Tube amps are similar in a way, so many high gain amps are based on the JCM800 (Ampeg VL, Laney GH, Peavey Butcher for example) or the SLO100 (Dual rectifier, 5150, 6505 etc) I mean it's a fun pedal to play, it doesn't really sound like a big muff anymore, it's probably electronically closer to a tone bender or other 3 transistor fuzz but it still has a ton of gain and a more wide open wall of sound type vibe. I'll probably go back and tweak it further someday to give it more of it's own voice.
@DaveViner
@DaveViner Ай бұрын
@CryptToneMusic I'll have to check those channels out, thanks you! Yeah, i have heard that about amps and pedals, I guess some started off just as mods before being made into their own thing. I knew a few of these but a few actually surprised me! I thought Night of Sin sounded very Kryst! It's also possible more Misfits songs are Kryst songs as well since i believe theres some Kryst songs that didn't make the album. One of the titles i remember was Red Krypton Sun and i was always curious what it would've sounded like or if theres a cassette tape out there with a bunch of lost demos we'll never hear. I know theres some lost Famous monsters demos that used to be on KZbin that had better versions of songs like Heavy metal, talons of steel, morte d amor and some others I'm forgetting. Another random fun fact is Larry the Wolf of The Manimals almost joined the misfits at some point in the 90s, not sure if pre graves or when graves was sort of in and out of the band. But Jerry basically wanted to rework some Manimals songs into Misfits tracks like Blood is the Harvest etc but Larry didn't want to just recycle old stuff he already did he wanted to do something fresh. Although as a fan of both bands it would've been really cool to hear that song with doyle on guitar and just overall heavier. But if you like Kryst and haven't heard Manimals then check them out, it's probably the closest thing you can get to more Kryst type music since I'm sure we'll never get any more from that band unless someone leaks some rare demos 😂 i bet more Kryst songs would've gotten reworked had we gotten a 3rd graves era album or if doyle, graves and chud had split off from jerry and continued what they wanted to do and Jerry not threatened legal action. (Or so the rumors go lol)
@DaveViner

There are definitely a lot of unreleased tracks. I remember hearing the old preproduction/early mixes of FM, and they sounded really good imo. A coffin box set 2 would be awesome. All of the 90s and onward stuff in one package with liner notes, demos, etc etc. It'd be cool, but I am sure it will never happen.

It's a Nine Inch Nails album but if Nine Inch Nails were actually as good as they're hyped up to be and not 99% mediocre deet doot trash. I wasn't much of a fan, if I am honest. I think if you are going to re-record a song, it should be an improvement or be at least as good as the original recording, and the songs on that album were neither. Graves sounded tired, and the performances were sub-par. Yeah, he really shot himself in the foot with his takes. He completely lost his core audience to pander for a group of people who don't care about him. It's a shame.

UM ACKTUALLY 🤓 The fretboard is Richlite made from post-consumer recycled paper. Sheets of paper are stacked up and saturated with a phenolic resin, then heat and pressure are applied. The resin then thermosets permanently with zero off-gassing. First used in 1943, the U.S. military made drop boxes out of Richlite. Because these boxes were dropped from supply planes, they needed to be durable and waterproof. After World War II, Richlite was used for industrial applications at Boeing Airlines. Because of Richlite's durability and the way that it machines just like metal, Boeing has used Richlite for machine parts on their airplanes. Later on the material was used for skate ramps due to its smooth, flexible makeup. Richlite has become a popular option for interior and exterior architectural surfaces and furniture. The durable, waterproof material is perfect for exterior cladding and rainscreens, but is also aesthetically pleasing enough for interior wall paneling, countertops and cabinetry.

Speaking of being fooled, here are some of my favourites sayings and proverbs about fooling people and being fooled. 1. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." 2. "There's a sucker born every minute." 3. "A fool and his money are soon parted." 4. "You can't cheat an honest man." 5. "All that glitters is not gold." 6. "Once bitten, twice shy." 7. "Appearances can be deceiving." 8. "Don't judge a book by its cover." 9. "Deceit wears a mask, and so does the deceiver." 10. "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."
