It's so funny, because Gianni Garko was every bit as charismatic, and cool on-screen, as Clint Eastwood, but it was just a bit too late for those kind of Westerns! I love him though. Such a fun lead actor!

Nah, you didn't watch every Django movie. There is still the brazilian adult parody: Um Pistoleiro Chamado Papaco.
@ericzaldivar220524 күн бұрын
You're not the first to bring this up. Papaco IS NOT a Django movie. There's no character named Django in it. There's no alternate title that makes it even a rip-off Django movie. The only reference is the coffin Papaco drags around that has dildos in it. That doesn't fit the criteria.

What a great essay 🤗 I love the wackiness and originality of this film and its soundtrack which sadly it's never been fully released, unlike for many other obscure Spaghetti Westerns. This is one of the few movies I would love to see a remake of (certainly I don't feel the same for Leone's or Corbucci's best westerns): this one had so much potential that, with a proper budget and direction, it can be a total riot.🤠

this has got to be the only film series which i can't find a definitive list of the official films. There are so many knock offs that i can't find anywhere which ones are the real ones. Which ones of these are the real ones? You don't seem to do a very good job of distinguishing them.
@ericzaldivar22056 ай бұрын
I think I made it pretty clear. The only official ones are the original (1966) and its direct sequel, DJANGO STRIKES AGAIN (1987). As cited on the video, since you must've missed it (*smirk*), some will try to tell you that DJANGO, PREPARE A COFFIN (1968) is a direct sequel because it was planned as such when Franco Nero was attached. Franco left before shooting began and he was replaced with Terence Hill so the "official" banner got nixed. Like all the other ones in the vid it is just another rip off.

@@ericzaldivar2205 Perhaps. Though I think people have a tendency to better notice that which does not align with their own views, heavy-handed or not. Like how one could assume I'm at least left-leaning for even bringing this up in the first place on a 5-year-old video. I suppose a film's themes being labeled "heavy-handed" doesn't necessarily mean they're "bad", the film or the themes. Something like "A Bullet for the General" definitely has a message it wants you to know and understand but does agreement with that messaging determine its success as entertainment and/or commentary...? I don't entirely know. Mileage varies. Nevertheless, thanks for the response to my random comment on a third re-watch of this video. "I often come back to this channel during my eurowestern kicks for background noise while I write". Really wish there was more for you to enjoy. I should've started this channel wayback when youtube first became mainstream nearly 20 years ago. I was there. I was unemployed. I just didn't. Would have made dozens (maybe more) of these eps during that period. Now there's just too much responsibility.

The Zapata subgenre, --- which I think was birthed with VERA CRUZ (1954). Every entry afterwards is basically a remake of it --- just doesn't really appeal to me. Too large scale for me to fully get involved. I have similar issues with war films (Actually Zapatas are in the same genre. I never considered that until now). That said, my favorite Leone movie is DUCK YOU SUCKER. Most probably because it's the one I've seen the least. I reached my saturation point with his other oaters a long time ago. As for ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA ... I like it, I guess ... but it's far from a pleasant watch. SUCKER at least deals with themes and stakes that are more relatable.
@j-rleamen40210 ай бұрын
@@ericzaldivar2205 Depending on where one is in their life, having too much responsibility is certainly better than not enough. I still thoroughly enjoy what little there is on your channel. And I understand your issue with the scale of some war films. They can tend to take too much of a large scale approach that loses focus of the central characters. "Duck, You Sucker" is easily a close second for me for Leone. I love how it simultaneously indulges in the romanticism of a socialist revolution, then juxtaposes that with the harsh reality of war and its consequences on the innocent, resulting in one of Rod Steiger's best performances (racial sensitivity be damned). While I still have you, I'll also commend your Indiana Jones video. Both hysterical and informative. "Treasure of the Amazon" and its Mexican Indiana Jones by way of Italian cannibal movies has long been a favourite.
