Probably the only thing I dislike about Babylon 5 how they later turned the First Ones from inexplicable enigmas for beyond the reach and understanding of any of the young races into some kind of flaming Tiki gods that were simply outsmarted and convinced by Sheridan to do his bidding.

Simply wonderful. Barney was amongst the very best jazz guitarists. His use of chords is just incredible.

This is why I liked Babylon 5 so much I do like Star Trek but everyone seems to be on par with each other in technology despite the age of races but Babylon 5 has the shadows vorlon's and the other ancient ones shows that there are others out there vast powerful timeless and as g'kar out we would be ant's to them and it would be more realistic

As a guitar player who admittedly admires this man’s talent and playing but yet have never met him in person(born in 2001) Where is this guitar he’s playing and what kind of guitar is this. Ik just by looking at it that it’s a Gibson probably a L5 by the body but the neck is a bound dot neck with no decals and a Charlie Christian pickup in the neck. What n where is this beautiful guitar

Love this ... and I think there are beings who are more advanced from us than we are from ants! Or even from we are from 1903 (imagine how far we have gone in 120 years ... from canvas and piano wire and internal compustion engines - from the first powrred flight! in 120 years!)

The symbolism throughout the song really hits the emotions hard, beautiful and tragic. The percussive heart rythm at the end😥. A celebration of life summarized into music. I'm sorry for your loss.

Nothing quite gives you the chills like realizing in your quest for knowledge, you are little more than an ant, trying to understand that it's been picked up by a Narn on a space station a hundred trillion kilometers from Earth.

I sometimes wonder what happens for stuff like this. They grab an intern and yell "QUICK, WE NEED AN ANT!" And they scavenge the grassy boundaries of the parking lot and come back covered in ant bites with a little container of ants, most dead, but one live one is fished out and dumped on the flower, "ACTION!" and the shoot is saved I think about this too much

I’ve just gotten back to guitar after not playing for 5 years (I just had my first lesson last week) and Barney Kessel is one of my musical heroes. One of my goals is to learn how to play jazz guitar just like him!

This was before G'kar became enlightened, back when he was still hungry for revenge and scheming to make his people more powerful. He helped Catherine out simply because it cost him nothing and her death wouldn't have gained him anything. As he put it, 'why not?'
@Soldier4USA2005

Exactly. It's little scenes like this that really built up both the characters and the world of B5. And just like what G'Kar describes, there are countless moments of query or reference or name dropping that never gets explained. Which is, I think, the key point and ultimate reason why this show is so good. It was, and still is, an amazing show that has very few peers. And I challenge anyone to compare it to shows before or after, that delved as deep into it's own lore as B5 did.

The downside to someone who plays a throw-away character. Not enough material to really dig into who they are and what they strive to be.

Aaron Geller 2.44K subscribers (The mysterious "Walkers of Sigma 957" aka "The Travellers" are my Number 1# all time favorite members of the "First Ones." Plus, while they are peaceful.... you don't even want to EVER get on their bad side, cause otherwise they'll trample over you like as a boot squishing ants!) (At 0:35 to 2:31 ) Catherine Sakai: [describing the mysterious gigantic alien ship she encountered at Sigma 957] "Ambassador. While I was out there, I saw something. What was it?" G'Kar: [noticing an Ant] "What is this?" Catherine Sakai: "An ant." G'Kar: "Ant?" Catherine Sakai: "So much gets shipped from Earth, it's hard to keep them out." G'Kar: [explaining] "I have just picked it up on the tip of my glove. If I put it down again and it asks another ant: "What was that?", how would it explain?" [continuing] "There are things in the universe billions of years older than our races. They are vast, timeless, and if they're aware of us at all...... it is as little more than ants. We have as much chance of communicating with them...... as an ant has with us. We know, we've tried. We've learned that we can either stay out from underfoot or be stepped on." Catherine Sakai: "That's it? That's all you know?" G'Kar: "Yes. They are a mystery. And I am both terrified and reassured to know there are still wonders in the universe, that we have not yet explained everything. Whatever they are, Ms. Sakai, they walk near Sigma 957. They must walk there alone." - Narn Ambassador G'Kar, explaining the Walkers of Sigma 957 to Catherine Sakai (this quote is from "Babylon 5" Season 1, Episode 6 "Mind War", which is one of my all time favorite B5 episodes)
