I just found out about this young man today at Albertsons Super Market in Vista ,Ca where I ran into his brothers mother in law and she was telling me about him as his dad and I used to pump iron at Jim's Gym in Peoria ,his dad being a bodybuilder and got his picture in Strength and Health a Bob Hoffman magazine .Anyhow this guy can pole-vault.

Cheers for the quick reply, its 4pm in here in australia so im guessing its quite late over there. From having a look at your vaults you have a great leg swing, so i can only imagine that the lack of penetration into the pitt is from the missed take off/jamming causing a different pole bend resulting in you shooting up and coming down on the bar?

@timpv , hey thanks for asking. first of all, this video isn't my proudest moments or anything. i only posted it so my coach who was on the other side of the country could see it. but, to answer: i didn't get a very good peice of the takeoff and really missed catching the ride. looking back, i should have stayed on that pole but at the time I was sure that i was going to hit my third attempt hard and blow through.

just querying why you would go up in pole flex when you had so much height on the 5m 13.0 pole.

Hey bud, thanks for asking. and for watching my vid for that matter. The answer to your question is that I just don't have big enough poles from that run. But, your friends problem could be that he needs to get taller at the takeoff and keep everything loaded up on top. peace

question: any idea why you keep landing on the bar (with your chest)??? good example is your second to last jump. I only ask cause there's a kid on my team that does the same thing. I figured it had to do with the 'kip' he does, and the way it directs his momentum. For you, i just figure it's cause you're on such a light pole (for your size) and it's not giving you a lot of 'pop' off the top of the pole. any thoughts?? thanks a bunch, you're looking great!! -6P

no, i know what you're saying, it's really hard to tell. if you look closely though, when it's in slo-mo, you can see about 6 inches of pole, above his top hand. I really like this jump, one of my fav's
