I probably would have lost on Last Midnight if you had used the Bernadette Peters version but fortunately, I'm safe because you used that awful movie. Maybe the only good thing to come out of the movie version of Into the Woods

I know this is a Broadway list but Singing in the Rain and Bless Your Beautiful Hide shouldn’t be used since the songs were written way before they were on Broadway and kind off mess up the evolution. Just my opinion

Pro tip, when you're basing the timeline on when a movie musical was adapted to Broadway, don't use clips from the movie, especially when the film came out decades before its Broadway debut. I know Seven Sons for Seven Brothers did not come out in 1982 at the cinema.

It's easy to listen to Danny sing his little drive in song and watch him be all sexy and forget that, five minutes ago, he tried to force himself on Sandy.

Thanks so much for putting together this Sutton Foster sequence ! I am a huge fan but only found her after watching the London production of Anything Goes , I had no idea of what she had performed before this, it was great to watch. Thanks again! Sutton is the most versatile and talented performer that’s alive now. I wish she would work in London’s West End, that’s the only place I could see her live.

Where are all of these clips from? I feel stupid I didn't realise there were this many proshots, I've only seen the 10th and 25th concerts!!
@playingtheladyrebel Жыл бұрын
Most of them aren’t full proshoots, just television and west end live performances and promotional clips! The only full proshoots are the anniversary concerts and the 2019 staged concert

For ANNIE, there should be 1980 and 1983 since Lea did the role twice. And for MISS SAIGON, there should also be 2001. (She did the role in Manila in 2000 right before going into the final month on Broadway - January 2001.) FLOWER DRUM SONG was 2001 (in LA) and 2002 (Broadway). There was also the concert of RAGTIME (2013, I think?). I know there are more theater credits in the Philippines but there probably isn't much footage. I feel like I've seen something from GREASE (Lea as Sandy) from 1995. And of course, since this video was made Lea played Mrs. Lovett in SWEENEY TODD.
@meredithchandler73 Жыл бұрын
I don't know if someone from the Philippines can confirm, but could the footage from ANNIE be the 2nd time Lea did the show when she was 12? (I know Lea has spoken about doing ANNIE twice when she did a podcast interview with Jamie Wilson. There may have been other mentions.) It's hard to tell because she is still a kid, but I feel like other footage I've seen of Lea at age 9 (when she first played Annie) she looked a little younger and perhaps wasn't quite as strong vocally as she is here. I know Lea was a hit when she first played Annie, but it would also make sense that there was more footage of Lea the 2nd time she was doing the show because she had already received the praise from her earlier performance and had released her first album.

I can't see any actual purpose here that was actually served. There is no connecting theme uniting this video. The years are wrong, the clips range from movie versions, to revivals, to some televised concerts. Sometimes you are picking love songs, sometimes showstoppers, sometimes comedic numbers. I don't know why you pick the musicals you chose to represent 'growth' when a lot of the time they do not, nor are they the most popular of shows, or tony winners. Often they are safe, conservative numbers in safe conservative shows.
