So glad to hear 3:30 played slowly (with expression). For years, I've been playing it too fast! 48:08end

Why not replace the damper instead of adding a fourth one? Isnt it redundant this way?

Would it be possible to actually see how the harmonic pedal functions on the strings? My 1827 Babcock has a "harmonic swell" pedal, which allows sympathetic vibrations to continue regardless of use of the damper pedal. Thanks.

Wow, I was transported at my early teenage years. Suddendly I remembered ringing the bell at my music conservatory and going up the large stairs in this very colonial hpuse in my town in Montevideo, Uruguay , to take piano lessons with my piano and solfeo teacher Noemí. I eventually gave up piano for ballet, but the Anna Magdalena Bach notebook will always be close to my heart. I very much enjoy it in piano or organ ❤🎵🎶

Inspiring and beautiful playing. I have been struggling with the Inventions and am looking for something a bit easier to get a handle on counterpoint. Now I know where I'm going next.... Mr. Barton, I've watched many of your videos. They really help those of us intermediate players who are trying to get a sense of how the music should sound. I love your Beethoven Opus 2, No. 1, and this video in particular. Thank you!

my Apollo baby grand can do this, except the middle pedal. The middle pedal lifts up the dampers on the bass strings only, which causes treble notes playing in staccato to make the bass strings vibrate in harmony.

I completely agree with other commentators that your anh 126 Musette rendition, version Allegro, is superb. The best I have heard. It comes alive and sounds so energetic and child like. Your dynamics are perfect. It's funny imagining the people at the time trying to dance to your version in bewilderment... while trying to keep up!

Well, this sounds like a recording of a chord struck on a piano of which the attack is removed. This effect was used by the composer David Raksin for the film noir 'Laura' by Otto Preminger of 1944. Listen to the eerie 'bowed vibraphone' sound before the music starts :kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5Obl4ygh8iagsk

OH! I thought, I knew this collection.... but the first movement is totally new to me. Besides.... too many teachers let their beginners play these pieces. That is how I grew "not very fond" of them. The same goes for the Inventions, which I have come to love now.

How would this translate on a stage in a hall with reverb and resonance?? Would it be overkill?? Is this something that is more fit for smaller spaces, homes and studios? Genuinely curious…

YES!! It makes my baby grand in a small room sound like it's in a large hall. More useful for home users than concert halls, in my opinion.
