Thank you for sharing these recordings. I have enjoyed them immensely. It reminds of how my great-gran and the older family members would talk when I was small child. I miss those elders.

@ I couldn’t agree more. My great-gran was born in 1900 in Mississippi and move to St. Louis as a young girl. Your great-aunt cadence is similar to that of my great-gran’s. Thanks again for sharing these recordings.

Dad told me that Uncle John had nicknames for everybody, and his nickname for Aunt Jenny was "Herbs". When I was much younger, I had an interest in herbs, and went to talk to Aunt Jenny, and she told me " Debbie, I ain't picked a weed since 1912!" LOL! Ain't that something! ❤

Though I understand why people choose cremation (my choice too) but usually it’s like being erased. No grave or plaque to mark that we were here. No place for loved ones or future family lines to recognize their ties to us. I don’t want anyone to have to wash my corpse or flush my bowels or drain out my blood or fluids. When I’m dead just burn and grind my remains a small name plate on a jar 🏺 or box. I recognize my Savior in death as well as this life.

Kina! I remember calling you when I was working with a group of musicians in the Twin cities. Guys from Peal, The FTP And The New Old Guys. I asked your permission to play out with the tune "Have A Cry" you agreed and only said "Do it justice David"! I had forgotten about that tune and was so happy to see "Kina Cosper" on the track. I'm going to see if I can find a recording of your song by us. God Bless You Kina!

For most whites living in the South in the mid-19th Century, it was like the Beverly Hillbillies. In other words, a large percentage were poor or working class. Very few became rich. Living in homes the same size as a slave's quarters. Made mostly out of wood, as brick was very expensive at the time. And if a lower middle class white did hire a slave, it was done through some type of lease agreement. Thank god we no longer have slavery or indentured servitude. However, these plantations were often located in isolated areas or along a river and had to be self-sufficient. So everyone pitched in to run them. With slaves actually learning trades such as carpentry, blacksmith, masonry, carriage making, etc. Which is how many earned their freedom.

All of the song vocals are from their original recordings and don't match within the medley. It would be great to get a new album from Paula. A very talented lady who doesn't seem to have the confidence to release new material without processed vocals. The first two albums were awesome, you can do it again and people will appreciate new material (light on the vocal effects please). A medley needs to be re-sung, perhaps re-recorded at the studio, so that the vocals match. Much Love, M

I get Paula isn’t a strong singer but her show is 100% track and even her speaking parts you can tell are pre-recorded. I wish she would’ve at least re recorded the vocals so it didn’t sound so unbelievable
