We had around 10k lbs in the trailer. For comparison, our driver drove back to LA without the trailer and only got around 12mpg.

Lfp cells this year in China are projected to drop well below $50kwh this uses lfp cells&200 or 300kwh packs. For comparison ev cells have now dropped over 918% since 2010 at the cell level in cost. 👍🏻😎

Make sure you bring that small trailer to market also!

I'd like to see the total weight of the trailer with this unit installed. Also I read the electric system can be used to power a cooling unit to cool product on board vs a diesel powered reefer unit. What's the specs on that? BTU's, run time pern charge, etc. Will there be a credit for the added weight of the batteries? Some states allow about 400lbs over 80k if you have a working APU on board. California has no such weight credits, ironic since they are the main cause of all this electrifying and emissions BS. I don't see them doing anything different with units like these proposed by this company. At the end the truck and trailer would be easily 2k lbs heavier with carrying capacity getting severely reduced. Bad business for eco a pat on the back .

Now your charging a truck and a trailer? Where is this electricity coming from. Never had to fuel a trailer. More weight less product..... it's a wash. I'd stick with diesel.

There is nothing electrified about the truck. Its just a standard tractor. The trailer has integrated batteries and an electric motor. It hooks up to any truck without modification. It makes a standard tractor into a hybrid (or full ev for shorter runs) without having to replace your existing fleet. You can (and should) charge the trailer when you can for maximum efficiency increase, but if you don't charge the trailer it works as a normal hybrid and just saves the energy from regen braking to help propel the unit.

Love it. Excited to watch this platform develop. Looking forward to some 5th wheel manufactures using this platform. Also curious if your team has looked in to in wheel motors, such as those from Protean, and if that style of tech would still be workable with your system.

👍 Are you able to share any results? What is the cargo capacity compromise using a RE trailer, if any? If the motor should catastrophically fail and seize, does it decouple from trailer axel? Are the components modular? Curious on repair/service time considerations. Keep up the awesome work!

That is awesome 👍 I'd been saying this type of trailer was exactly what was needed since back in 2010 when starting out as an electrician. So much potential for this. From your latest semi trailer configuration, to this demonstration model, which could be used as a platform for 5th wheels, and various contractor applications. If you can get your kingpin tech to work with a ball hitch, you'll open even more market possibilities. Congrats Range Energy! Looking forward to see how you market and advertise this in the future!
