@@sab1163 ohhhhh! Given that this is a Grand Finals, don’t 2nd place get announced as runner-up? (Idk). Also, if it wasn’t announced, does people have opinion on the rankings by any chance? I’m using this video for my debate studies.

Hi there! Are the meetings drop-in, or do we have to pre-register?
@harthousedebatingclub93094 жыл бұрын
Hi Tristen! All of our meetings are drop-in and you're welcome to join as many or as few meetings as you want. We do have a registration form on our Discord to help us with slotting, but you can fill that out at the start of the meeting. No need to pre-register!

Hello guys! I appreciate the discussion. As a newbie debater, it really helped in me having a deeper understanding of argumentation. I have a question regarding the sixth part - the link to the motion. How does this exactly look like? Is it like explaining why the impact is likely to happen or is it merely about explaining how the policy leads to the impact?
@harthousedebatingclub93094 жыл бұрын
Great question! The link is essentially when you state how your argument (proven by your analysis) supports the side of the motion you're defending. In this example, the link could be as simple as "...since we have shown you how automation is taking away low-skilled jobs, providing these workers with a basic income would allow them to remain financially stable. For this reason, we support a universal basic income." The link ensures that debaters avoid tangents and always connect their arguments to the motion they're debating. Hope this makes sense :)
