How did you put the bend in the shaft with the pinstripes ?

Thank you for showing and explaining the purpose. It seams to make sense to me, which as many novices, we initially learn the J-stroke, C-stroke, Pry, Brace etc.. but often, I find that in order to continuously paddle, and finish out strokes, it takes time.. .not sure I can adequately explain why, but a shorter paddle, with faster strokes, I imagine would allow less concentration on keeping the canoe going straight, as well as not tiring out.. or even working on my weaker side, ... with perhaps not as much negative impact.. anyway.. thanks. I'm going to consider this for end of summer self birthday present. Thanks.

Absolutely beautiful! Watching the drum sander reminded me of being a ski tech 40 years ago. Each paddle is art. You guys should build instruments (violins, guitars, mandos, etc.) too. I'll bet you could make some really cool instruments.

Beautiful craftsmanship! I'm building a 1/12 scale canoe and was searching for info on how to shape my paddles for it when I came upon your site. I've always earned my living working with my hands too. I appreciate you sharing this. Thank you! Steve

Nice paddle but the goon stroke wastes energy. Try the j- stroke next time.

You guys oil the grips, though? I have one with an oiled grip and I was thinking of waxing it to give it some more protection and a look more similar to the varnish, but you don't wax the grip in this video, so maybe I won't.
