Hi, lovely pattern! Which brand of yarn are you using? (Yellow tweed) I don’t think it’s the same yarn listed in paid pattern which is Wool and the Gang. Thanks

This was a second version of this design, this particular yarn I bought in a small yarn shop in Europe and honestly I don’t remember the brand… Hope it helps!

I have just finished a body of a new top-down sweater with a wide 2x2 hem, so I decided to share with you the stretchy bind off I lately have been using. It does take much more time than the usual method, but it is so worth it - the edge created is so neat and stretchy. The process is made of 4 steps that you repeat until you bind off all the sts. The set-up step: Starting with knit sts column, insert the needle into the first knit st on LH needle purlwise, then insert the needle into the first purl st on RH needle knitwise. Slip both sts off needles. And start with Steps 1-4. Step 1. Working into a pair of adjacent knit sts: Insert the needle into the 1st knit st KNITWISE, then into the 2nd knit st - PURLWISE. Slip it off the LH needle, pull the yarn through. Step 2. Working into a pair of purl sts that frame the knit st column. Insert the needle into the 1st purl st (on the right side of the knit sts column) PURLWISE, then into the 2nd purl st (on the left side of the knit sts column) - KNITWISE. Slip it off the LH needle, pull the yarn through. Step 3. Working into a pair of knit sts that frame the purl st column Insert the needle into the 1st knit st (on the right side of the purl sts column) KNITWISE, then into the 2nd knit st (on the left side of the purl sts column) - PURLWISE. Do NOT slip it off the LH needle, pull the yarn through. Step 4. Working into a pair of adjacent purl sts Insert the needle into the 1st purl st PURLWISE, then into the 2nd pur st - PURLWISE. Slip both purl and knit sts off the LH needle, pull the yarn through. Repeat STEPS 1-4 until you bind off all the sts.

This is a lovely tutorial. Can you say how you join your yarn please. You seem to tie it? To the stitch beneath?
@fortheloveofknitwear8 ай бұрын
Thank you, Alison! If I am at the spot where I know it will be very easy to hide the ends, yes, I just tie it! If it happens so I need to join new yarn in the middle of work and making a knot would be too visible, I use “Russian join” method - you can google it, super easy.

I love it except the boat neck is too wide for my taste. Can the neck be modified?
@fortheloveofknitwear8 ай бұрын
Yes, you can bind off less sts for the neckline and make the shoulders’ join longer!

Great info! Confused a bit about double yarn. If I use the same yarn (same color), do I still need to double? Knitting my first sweater!
@fortheloveofknitwear9 ай бұрын
No, you don’t need the double yarn, I just used it for extra thickness. Congrats on your first project!

Love this sweater. I want to make the number of stitches less. Unfortunately, such a large size does not suit me. Which number multiples do I need? And I think your needle is 6 mm, right?
@fortheloveofknitwear9 ай бұрын
Thank you! I have graded the sweater for 5 sizes in the pattern file giftofknitting.com/pattern-store/p/bp5fxovy2e65us7dmx1j20id8rdfd0: Chest/Bust at Underarm: 35 (42, 49, 56, 63)“ / 91 (108.5, 126, 144, 162) cm. Here is the multiple: 1 rep of the Textured Flowers st (10 sts) = 3 ½“ (9 cm) Here is the gauge. Each knitter's tension is slightly different, so I recommend experimenting with the needle sizes 4.5 mm - 6 mm to get the suggested in the pattern gauge: 11.5 sts x 14 rnds = 4” 10 cm in Textured Flowers stitch after blocking. Hope it helps! Alina

Love the pattern. How many yards of mohair are needed for a medium size sweater? Is it possible to alter the top so it isn't a boatneck? It looks lovely on you but would not be so great on me. Thanks.
@fortheloveofknitwear10 ай бұрын
Thank you! You can find the breakdown of yards per sizing on the pattern page - 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) skeins of 109 yds/100 m in 1.75 oz 50 g. The pattern doesn't have the alternative neckline written out, but if you have enough experience, yes - you can definitely change it to a more crew neck shape with less stitches bound off at the beginning and then a gradual stitches decrease. Hope it helps!

@fortheloveofknitwear Жыл бұрын
I am using 6 mm, but I highly recommend checking your gauge - different knitters knit with different tension, so you might get the recommended gauge on a different needle size.

This was perfect. My neckline on a sweater that took me months to knit with expensive (for me) yarn was jagged and sloppy even after 3X of ripping it out and redoing. I was upset with the finished project... then I found your video. The bottom stitches smoothed the transition to the neckline and all decreases and holes were neatly covered. Thanks to you, I now have my new favorite sweater.😍

Thank you! I would insert the crochet hook inside the live sts and pull the yarn through it, creating the crochet chain. Hope it makes sense - it's easier on the needles/hook than in text :)

Very neat ! In the "traditional" way of picking up stitches, we have to figure out a pick-up ratio (stitches vs rows gauge) in the side of the collar where we have rows and not columns of stitches like in the front or back. With your method, do you make a crochet slip stitch in every rows in the sides or do you skip some stitches to respect your ratio gauge? The sample in your video is in a bulky weight with very few stitches on the sides, and I am curious what it would look like with a thinner yarn.
@fortheloveofknitwear Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question! I divide the number of stitches that I need to pick up by two and then evenly space out the crochet slip stitches. But if I see that I need to fill out one hole or pull the stitches closer together, I would do that even if it will result not in the perfect number of picked up sts at the end, because that clean line of crochet slip sts is what creates a neat neckline; the number of sts can always be adjusted later on the first row. Hope that makes sense! Alina
