Hi, did you finish this project? I'm going to complete a similiar Climax build soon and would be interested to see some videos and inspirations of your final loco.

Had a lot of good times on the BB&W Good to see some of the buildings I built and or rebuilt ar still standing in 2021.. The Bellview station was a project. When ii delivered it it went in my trailer with 1/2 inch clearance to the back doors. Enjoyed the trip around .

I wonder if Cornelius Vanderbilt or James J. Hill bought their kids this set? You should consider putting a chip camera on the train for a crewman/passenger view!

He is just making sure that his hands are not in the way of the passing train while talking with a friend on the other side of the track. 🙂

hey pal, I'm going to continue my crusade against center drills for a second - if you want a starting hole for position and straightness you need to use a drill with an equal or greater point angle. You want the point to engage at the same time or before the flutes, not the other way around. I hope this advise ten years later is of use haha.
@shaynut6 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I will consider it. 👍

@@shaynut6 Never thought you'd see my comment on your ten year old video so, one, hello! and two, I find screw / stub length drills are typically very cheap and serve this purpose well. Of course this isn't relevant for the op in the video, the drilled hole was only clearance for the endmill - but if you are trying to drill for spec or are reaming after, a stub drill half the diameter of the drill size will be a great help for tolerance! Good luck and nice to meet you.

Yes…it was at Boots’. It only ran for an hour or so one afternoon. I happened to see it and take a little video. Hopefully it will come and visit again.

Dam boy That boiler is long Imagine this thing in 7 1/3 inch
@shaynut63 жыл бұрын
Yes...it would be very large in 7 1/2" gauge (1.5" = 1' scale). Probably similar to a Challenger in size. This is the only one I've ever seen. We got the loco from a dealer in rare railroad collectables. Not sure who originally built it. I'm not even sure if such a loco existed in full size somewhere in the world.

Hey how did you put trought out the frame dyno jet sensor. And why I cant fit like you done? Mine same r6
@shaynut64 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Not sure why though. The factory shifting rod passed through the frame as shown. I just "upgraded" it with different rod lengths and the Dynojet quick shifter and still used the factory rear sets. I have since replaced the rear sets and have converted it to the racing shift pattern (1-up, 5 down). I had to move the shift rod outside the frame to make that all work however. It is not quite as protected now but it doesn't interfere with anything while riding. Had to replace the Dynojet sensor since it was a "pull" type and it now needed to be a "push" type. The new Dynojet sensor can do either one so it is much more versatile.

Hi shaynut6, this is an awesome video of your time off roading in Durhamtown. Especially during these times, this is an awesome way to safely get out and have some fun. We'd love to feature some of your content to help encourage others to safely travel around Georgia. If interested, you can email [email protected] for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!

2003 Yamaha r6 I got to say one of the best and funest bikes I ever had. I actually have another one but not dumping money into more of a bang around bike it's still a bad ass bike looks like crap but everything works got it cheap . It was in a flood. Awesome video

The R6 is a very fun bike. My son has a Honda CBR1000RR but it is "too much" to have fun with. It will hurt you in a heartbeat. The R6 is much more forgiving and a lot more fun. Have fun and ride safe!

Looks nice bro. What exhaust is that? I'm looking for a stubby for my 04 too.
@shaynut66 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Am having lots of fun with it. The exhaust was a Coffmans shorty. I ended up replacing it with a standard length Yoshimura because it wouldn't meet the noise restrictions (104db) at one of the track day tracks I go to. Still sounds good but not quite as high on the decibel scale.

Thanks for the info. Not to worry guessing its same as my coal and similar to anthracite. I've got a vid of my loco on my channel. Check it out
@mattseymour86376 жыл бұрын
Sounds good. I have a 3.5 inch loco 0-4-0 but use anthracite and steam coal. What sort of coal is it and can you send a link to eBay?
@shaynut66 жыл бұрын
Pocahontas comes from the vein in PA with the same name. Burns pretty clean. Is used by blacksmiths a lot. I found my eBay invoice from 2013 but seller no longer offers it. Seller (matchlessantiques) still has storefront. I'd look for a blacksmith supplier that might be close enough to pick it up directly. Shipping is very costly. Good luck with the search. Post a pic of your loco!
@mattseymour86375 жыл бұрын
Thanks I use the Welsh coal now and some Russian mixed in. Do you recommend Welsh steam coal ?
@mattseymour86376 жыл бұрын
Lovely engine. What gauge is this and what coal do you use?
@shaynut66 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response. Just got back from vacation playing trains at Train Mountain. This engine is 3/4" scale (3/4" = 1 foot). The track gauge is 3-1/2". I bought a #50 bag of Pocahontas coal off of eBay. I don't run this one much so it should last quite a while.

We buy the parts (rail, lumber for the crossties, screws, etc.) and then assemble 8 or 10 foot track panels using a jig to layout all the parts. Once we have a stockpile of the straight and curved sections we need then we can do the actual track laying you see in the video.

What trail are you riding at :55 into the video? I've never seen that one. @shaynut6
@shaynut68 жыл бұрын
The way we normally get to it is to follow the trails that parallel the road all the way out to the hill climb location. Just keep bearing the right whenever you have a choice of right or left. Then just follow that trail down to the bottom lands and follow the creek bed. That trail is way out in the back (or at least if feels like it is).
