The boarder taking this video is totally at fault. There was absolutely no reason for him to continue directly towards the small kid and do a hockey stop right at him. Scared the kid who yelled and tried to get away looking back over his shoulder and yelling at the boarder. The little kid was afraid the boarder was going to run him over and was not at fault for causing the skier to fall. A$$hats like this boarder are what take the fun out of everyone else's day. Go crawl back under your rock, knuckle dragger.

Difference between the skiing community and the surfing community, surfers would’ve just thrown down, skiers yell at each other for minutes long and do nothing

Sometimes accidents happen on a mountain. I get skiing is not a cheap sport (or is the equipment) but it's okay to remain a bit civil lol. Not saying it happened here, but I do get annoyed by entitled parents that scream you cannot yell at their kid while they sit passively by and say "My crotch fruit can do no wrong." Well, fine... then PARENT... tell the kid to apologize and teach them the proper mechanics (or hire an instructor) before you go out there. Let's put a gun in the hands of a kid without proper training/lessons, etc. and go tell him/her to shoot at things. And they hit someone. "Oh well he/she is just LEARNING! ONLY 9 years old" Yah... go F yourself. Maybe educate your kid on proper etiquette and skills before you put them out there on slopes that are not meant for beginners. Moron.

People are focusing on the age of the kid versus this being an adult, but you have been led to focus on that by this guy's editing of the video. The fact that he doesn't show the entire uncut incident and only shows 3 seconds while freeze framing just before the collision is clear the guy is trying to manipulate how you view this. If he isn't going to show the entire incident from before through after without editing it then I'm not on his side.

I'm sorry, but this video is everything wrong with Heavenly Valley in a nutshell. Angry, hot tempered D-bags, looking for a fight. I'm not sure what it is, the close proximity to the casinos maybe, but something about that mountain attracts way more than it's fair share of D-bags.

It was the kids fault for running into him, but what a jerk to get all worked up about it… I probably wouldn’t have handled it as well as this dad… funniest thing was when he finally took off, he almost ran into another skier… 😂

The parent with the camera seemed to be pushing the matter. The guy legit got ran into. A bit dramatic on the fall. I could have easily lifted my uphill ski and remain firmly standing. Parent is making excuses and conveniently stops the video after the hit. I have been hit much harder and we laugh it off. This is what happens when yiou have two grouchy again blokes who would rather bicker like housewives then enjoy the day. First rule on the slope is always "Be in Control." Californians do tend to be dframatic and overreact. Father lies too. Guy did not fall over until he was hit. Not good parenting. Must teach about consequences.

As the adult, as the obviously better rider, on a beginner run, you have an obligation to look uphill when you're stopped. it may not be a rule but its common sense

~Slap, slap, slap, slap, slap. I have a camera. It's on video.~ You're all sad excuses for men. If there's a problem, you go down the mountain away from the children, away from other guests, and handle it like men. You don't hide behind a camera to save you from your unchecked ego. Either you're right and you walk away, or the whole thing was petty in the first place, and both save a little face by moving on without it being recorded for all time. Grow up.

There's problems there. My instructor was taken out by a kid on skis and he just got up, made sure the kid was okay, talked to the parents and off we went. Everyone was fine, so why rage? Accidents happen with kids and people new to the sport.

The kid got the short end of the stick here lol. He only moved because he was scared the OP was going to collide, then he hits the manchild. Wouldn’t your first move be to make sure the kid is ok? I mean, I can’t imagine this mindset at all. As a skater I’ve dealt with kids at parks and stuff, even if it was his fault (and it really wasn’t here), the first thing you’re going to do is check on the kid, even if you’re annoyed. I’m talking doing this as a 15 year old too, this guy is a grown man.

chairlift ski lawyer here. 1- the child tried to stop and may or may not have made slight contact with old angy skier. Maybe a gentle talking to him to reaffirm to always look downhill would have been appropriate, but the other circumstances was he was off ballance and trying to regain control at the time and moving slowly. 2- angry old skier was stopped where its dangerous and against the rules - should have been against the side so the fault is equal. 3 as soon as the angry skier climbed uphill, steped on the other skiers ski n got in his face he is guilty of ski rage and should have his pass pulled n not allowed to upload n cause more trouble. Any more trouble from there should have been a arrestable offense. I've got fifty years plus of skiing and worked professionally (ski not board) in the industry. Ive seen it all in the northeast, but mostly from New Yorkers at killington. They seem to be the most entitled bunch of karen's and kevin's and I think new yorkers invented ski rage.😂😂😂😂

Moral of the story: Sometimes, to be a man, the requisite is to walk away. You can't go through life thinking nobody is going to cut in front of you or not take your parking space. I'm sure somebody will piss me off tomorrow, and the best i got is: i'm not going to be your friend.

The dad should have been watching his kid better. The guy that got hit by the kid had a right to be pissed but not to that extent. In addition the scene escalated because the dad and the other guy were mouthing off. Had the dad apologize for what the child had done. Offered the guy a ski repair as a kind gesture non that would have gone that far. Fior the dad …you were immature and exaggerating assault on your child because the guy that got hit was already angry. You provoked him instead. I guess you’re the type of person that is never wrong. Again the skier did overreact but more important the dad needs to learn to return hatred with love. It goes a long way. Then you can set the bitter drama you created aside for good

This is an old video but I’ve noticed that it is a bit indicative of skiing in California. Most of the folks there are pretty chill but there is a quite vocal group of people who just seem to be full of anger and will rage at the slightest provocation. I had a guy lost his shit when my daughter tried to lower the guard rail on a lift, just went off on her. And it wasn’t just for a moment … she had to endure it the entire ride up. I politely suggested that he might be best off if he took off as fast as he could because I was going to beat the living shit out of him when we got to the end of the lift. That seemed to calm him down and he apologized. Had another guy flip out when HE knocked my skis off a rack and they landed on his snowboard. Had a guy at Mammoth scream at me for going ‘too slow’ on a catwalk - while I was escorting my 3-year-old around the mountain. It’s always the same thing … a prolonged screaming rant that where I live is how you start a fight. Maybe Californians just like screaming and don’t realize that people do, in fact, get punched in the face in real life.
