Hi Jon - I've got a Controller (base class is RenderController) with the following action public override IActionResult Index() { return CurrentTemplate(CurrentPage); } but I get a NullReferenceException . How do I get around it? Is there a recommended way?

Figured it out - needed to wrap it TDD - especially retrospectively doing it - is a pain

Ayo Adesina - I can see a few names in the comments that I recognise from the Umbraco forums… Jon you are a very talented developer, I have bought your books, but I don’t think I have ever commented on any of your videos. You seemed pretty emotional, I understand why. Just want to say there are many umbraco developers around the world who I’m sure you have really helped make that leap, including me! Have a good rest We will love to see you back soon!

Take the time you need for your kid and family, it is more important than cranking out video's. However, I still enjoy your book and the videos you've posted on Umbraco so I hope that in the future you might still find time to post some more on it. I'll keep following regardless. All the best and I hope you find a better equilibrium between work and private life.

I like how discard behaves and be applied in our program like creating a condition that is related to a program specification and just discarding it e_h_h_e output: condition is true.

GG Jon! As I've always stated in my comments, I always learned a lot from a lot of your soft-skills and productivity/extensions content - your contentful book which I bought was great too and won me a lot of current job brownie points in getting promoted to Director. Completely understand your position I'm sure you're very popular among Umbraco product owners ;) Best of luck Pete

Thank you so much for all the valuable content you've shared with us. As a fellow Umbraco developer, I deeply appreciate the effort and time you’ve put into your videos. I bought one of the books you recommended some time ago, and it’s been an incredible resource. Your videos have been incredibly useful in my development journey. I understand that time is the most valuable asset we have, and I’m glad you’ve been able to balance your projects and family life. Despite the challenges and negative aspects, your work has made a significant impact. I know a few people who also use your videos as a resource, and they feel the same way. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors and with your family. Thank you again! Best regards, Luís Costa

Thanks for the great content - Hope you keep the videos/profile alive, as I reckon a lot of people will want to look at past videos, or re-run a tutorial. I've just bought your book - just in case you pull that as well. Ohh, and if you're turning down Umbraco work - send them my way :)

Yeah - Ultimately the umbraco audience has a ceiling limit on the number of subs and likes you can obtain. So doing these will never make you filthy rich. I have bought the Jon Jones books which are good, and sometimes makes me re-think my strategies on solving the common issues on best practise e.g. Like were to put the infamous "Site Settings" properties? (Homepage, First Child, or a single node from the ROOT). Turns out on many occsaion there isnt one, and just down to "per project", or client preference.

I know I sometimes forget to give praise, but I try and suggest ways to make the videos even better, or what might help the videos work better. I can see how this can come across as "Negative" - but sometimes people fail to see how or why things have hit a brick wall. Sometimes a small detail fix (or being the one subscriber to stick up their hand) - can lead to great success. Who knows, it might lead to a client wanting to commission you for a Job, or Training sesh. which you could charge xx,xxxx for. Side Note : I guess the "Font" thing in this vlog was directed at a comment I had made, but to be honest, I just got lost and confused merely because nothing looked like anything on the standard install of VS.

Thanks for all the time, effort and useful information you’ve put into your channel Jon, certainly appreciated by me, even though I came relatively late to it. Totally understand that it takes a lot of time to make these things and how intrusive it can be on your family and work time…. take a well deserved rest and hopefully we’ll see the odd new video from you at a later date…. in the meantime good luck for your future whatever that may be.
