My motor doesn't turn on at all. All 3 wires in the plug coming into the motor are showing 120v when they're run through a mulitmeter while connected to an extension cord's neutral wire. Does this mean the motor has a short? Brushes are good, no sign of burning anywhere inside the motor.

The design of these things is so idiotic. Poor guy having to service it needs to go through 100000 minute parts and navigate a counterintuitive setup.

Hi, thank you for message, I don’t design these, i just make videos to help people who may be struggling but considering these use water they do need to made watertight so I don’t think there is one of these on the market where they are easy to maintain and repair, but the majority of manufacturers don’t want people to repair items, they prefer it if you just purchase another new one, it is crazy.

Hello mate quick question. I have this same vacuum and it has reduced power at the roller and belt light is red a lot, so I’m pretty sure it’s a belt issue but I notice it has 2 belts. You are selling a belt on eBay with the cog which I could buy but what if it turns out to be the roller belt that’s the issue. They’re so hard to find online because I don’t know if they’re interchangeable.
@adamburton2165
@adamburton2165 2 күн бұрын
Hi, this may be to late as it’s been 10 days, sorry about that I don’t get on here much. In my opinion getting a red light could be many things, if intermittent then it’s more likely a wire issue within the neck joint, basically the wires feed up into the upright and they wear and break, very poor design fault. Otherwise first I would remove the front roller and hand turn the brushroll (brush bar) to see if it is spinning freely, if tight then I would remove the motor belt and see what happens when you power it on again, if the motor runs fine and no red light then it could be a jammed brushroll, or just any blockages even with the front roller cog, they can get jammed with hair and debris, tighten and that’s why the red light comes on, a lot of times you can remove these are although not easy you can remove anything possible and it may spin freely again, However if with the belt removed the red light still comes on the it could be the motor or pcb at fault, I’ve taken hundreds apart and there isn’t anything to help know which unless you have burnt markings, hence it’s always advised to replace both the motor and pcb together otherwise by changing just one you may get the same fault happen. That’s the basics, it’s long but hopefully it helps if you haven’t fixed it already. regards

@@adamburton2165 thanks for getting back to me. I’ve pretty much already done what you suggested there was a build up in the cog and around it so I cleaned the whole thing inside and changed all the filters and it’s running smoothly now cheers 👍🏼

Hi, unless there is a issue on the connection’s then I would still inspect the wires going through the upright neck pivot, I’m sure if left it would get worse until it dies completely and then the broken wire would be more obvious, I haven’t yet come across one where the pcb or motor worked intermittently but electrical items can be annoying. regards

Any tips on how to diagnose that connector block? Mine doesn't appear burnt out at all, but when it is in place, the vacuum doesn't turn on. If I bypass it and connect 110v straight to the motor, the motor spins up fine. It makes me think that the connector block has some function in modulating the speed of the motor as controlled by the speed dial, and something on mine is burnt out and for some reason is not allowing any function. Do you have any tips for what to search for to buy a new block?

Is there any chance you could advise on how to further dismantle the wand in order to check/repair a lack of continuity with one of the 3 cables that run through the wand. One of the cables on mine is not showing continuity and causing my Shark IF200 to cut out a few seconds after starting with the display showing a sequence of flashing lights.

Thanks. I spent ages figuring out most of this for myself, but I wish I'd watched this first. Can you confirm that you were using a T20 bit, please. I've got loads of Torx bits, but none with holes, so I want to buy the correct size. I managed to bodge the torx screws out with a narrow flat blade screwdriver, but I'd rather have the correct tool. You didn't show the reassembly, and there's a couple of gotchas - like the large spring that fell out during disassembly. And getting the flexible hose assembly out is relatively simple, but getting it back in again is almost impossible.

I am not and have never been employed by a vacuum cleaner company, I don’t design them, I have no input in how they make their items, my videos are just to help if people are struggling, nothing else. But I will slightly defend companies, they all patent everything possible, so one manufacturer might make a great design but no one else can copy unless they are Chinese as they don’t really follow patent laws, but I could virtually complain about every manufacturer as every vacuum can have a flaw in some way or another.

@adamburton2165

hi, I only used the wire that was there, basically I took the little panel off the back and the wire which had worn I cut near the connector so then it would slide down, (otherwise threading through a new wire would be very difficult) and then I cut a correct size piece to slot into place and used a heat shield sleeve to join both ends back, the wire between where it breaks to the pcb is longer so there is enough to use and repair, then obviously you join from original break to the rest of the wire to the pcb and using a heat shield again, so 3 joins but no need to use extra wire, that was how I done it anyway. regards

I just found one of these on someone's front yard that they left out for the scrap man to collect so I thought I'd grab it and see what was wrong with it. When I plugged it in and turned it on at the wall, it instantly came to life but had no lights appear on thr switches. I tried pressing thr buttons, the lights turned on but didn't stop or change the brush speed. There is powerful suction at the head. I'm not sure where to go from here, whether to disassemble the head and see whats going on at the buttons or just to give up now and admit that it's going to landfill (or offer it on freecycle etc for parts). Any ideas?
