Excellent! Nothing beats an interesting topic I knew nothing about being explained by an expert who knows how to get their enthusiasm for the topic over. Thanks very much for this. But I'm SO disappointed in the number of views, likes and comments. KZbin in a nutshell - channels which pretend to educate but really just entertain, get thousands, even millions of likes and views, channels that really do educate get ignored because they don't have lots of jump cuts and silliness, and, God help us, inane music!

I remember walking on Ravenscar beach and there are large long scars in the rock on the sea bed when the tide is out. I assume this is where the Alum boats landed and was purposely cut rock grooves 500+ years ago?

Alum production was commonplace all up the Yorkshire coast until synthetic dyes took over. Good video.
