Okay so I’m 19 minutes in and I’m right up to the spot where I’m at on the Anne rice series that brought me here so it only feels right to pause and come back after season 2 finale.

Dracula is the most famous vampire in literature and movies not lestat de lioncourt

From what I recall, when Van Helsing and Lucy’s suitors encounter Dracula, he is in his full giant bat/demon form and says “look at what your God has done to me!”. Then ABV says something about “your cursed the church. You cursed God. You killed hundreds of innocent souls and impaled them”. He says it very quick so it’s understandable as to why it would happen but it didn’t seem that Dracula was some devout Christian obsessed with saving the religion. He was obsessed with Elisabetha and was much more motivated in seeing her again than he was being a crusader. That’s part of why it was so easy for him after the priest told him Elisabetha was condemned to hell after self deletion to go ballistic. Also these priests need some lessons in simple courtesy. The man just came back from war after several long days or week or months. Maybe wait a little bit before lettinf

I always thought Claudia NOT maturing mentally would have been an amazing acting challenge as well. Being 5-12 years old mentally FOREVER is another allegory for chronic and terminal illnesses. After 100 years of being 5, things that used to entertain or occupy time slowly becomes boring and incessant.

*The Secret Key to Vampirism* “Interview With An Empty Skull” The actual truth about real living vampires, despite all rumors and stories, is that they are just airheads with the key to society. Society and its individuals grow slowly more complex over time. A vampire is a person with an empty brain who watches while all the goblin heads form around them, then they latch on for a social ride. The vampires wait for you to get a complex then they open their umbrellas and own you by its simple similes. The mirror of the self will automatically see another as similar or as complex, however vampires remain simple and can also be extremely sharp. This is why witches hate vampires. The witch is complexity. Still one cannot tell them apart. If a vampire family sees you get a complex they’ll probably destroy you. Most of the world is about giving you a complex. This is how they grow so powerful. A vampire bite doesn’t give you a complex it takes it away. The sunlight becomes naturally brighter over time. The definition just fill in over time but really subtle. A vampire can load a small psychological program but its natural state is a psychological emptiness. The call them undead because many go through getting a complex then return to the living and that journey may last indefinitely. A pure vampire never gets one at all but this is rare. Being around vampires will wear you down slowly and the difference is very subtle and difficult to detect. Crosses and garlic work because they are loud and complex to vampires. No complex makes one "forever young" so to speak. Time. Time is manufactured by society. As an undead vampire begins to lose their complex they seek darkness and time begins to unravel. They return detached to a wolf-like natural state. The bats begin to clear and they begin to own society a piece at a time. Be warned.

I’m so glad these videos exist - it’s been nearly 20 years since I read my first Anne Rice vampire novel as a pre-teen. It was a bit mature, maybe, but the world-building was sooo engaging and fascinating!

The vampires in twilight are so cool if only they had a better script and more interesting character. Also further depth in lore instead of a generic love story.

Alliyah was supposed to play in the Matrix if she didn't die. But that mid actress Jada Pinkett Smith got the role after she died. Man did Jada do a horrible job in that part all mechanical and robot like with no passion. Ugh. And Alliyah was so gorgeous at the end of her life. Her always looking super happy like these interviews made her shine. Sad to learn about how she was bought by R Kelly from her mother for like a car or a living room set or something like that as a young teen. Very similar to Elvis and Pricilla where he bought her from her parents for some things for their home.

I always have thought that Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt should have switched parts. I feel the aesthetic of Brad Pitt seemed more believable has unhinged and erratic where Tom Cruise doesn’t play unhinged as well, he is stronger playing calculating, scheming, planning parts.

Magnus was a surprisingly thoughtful maker in leaving all his things to Lestat, teaching him what he needed to know and then just leaving. He could have easily turned him and then offed himself but he made sure his child had what he needed.
